Beautiful little shrine in a quiet grove. Worth a visit if you have a little extra time. Parking available at the site or a leisurely 40 minute walk from Sendai station. A large shrine near Toshogu station (1 stop from Sendai station). You can enjoy quiet atmosphere and good scenery of wooden in heart of town. The stairs are not too high and easy for walking even for eldery. The shrine staffs (miko) are very kind. Please note that Toshogu station is small and has only one platform.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Sendai Station. This place offers oden as a complimentary dish. I visited on a weekend, and it wasn't crowded at opening time, making it a hidden gem. The interior is clean, possibly because it's a relatively new establishment. The restrooms were also clean, which is a big plus. The seating includes counter seats in front of the oden counter and spacious table seating. Orders are placed via QR code. The best part is that you can eat as much oden as you want for just 500 yen! Once you finish the initial set of oden, you can take your plate to the oden counter and choose your favorite items. The oden available on this day included: Daikon radish, konjac, shirataki noodles, shumai, chikuwa, satsuma-age, hanpen, egg, atsuage, and limited-quantity octopus legs. The daikon was tender and flavorful! The shumai was also delicious! Everything was so tasty that I wanted to go for seconds multiple times, but it might be a bit inconvenient if you're seated far from the counter. So, be prepared to make a few trips.
