Took this photo when I visited Shizuoka! The first one is from Nihondaira Yume Terrace!! Even while moving by bus, the impressive Mount Fuji was visible, but the view from the terrace was incredible!!!! The subsequent photos are from Nihondaira Zoo! Since it was a weekday, there were few people, and it was nice to be able to watch the animals at leisure. I was especially surprised when a tiger came up close. Also, the red pandas were so small and incredibly cute. There was also a super long slide, so definitely give it a try!! I highly recommend Shizuoka!!!

Nihon-daira is located on the hills between Shimizu District, Shizuoka Prefecture and Suruga Bay. In 2018, the famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma designed a viewing platform and sky corridor - 'Dream Terrace' on the top of the mountain. It is said that the design inspiration comes from the Dream Palace of Nara Horyuji Temple, so the plane is octagonal, and it really looks like the Dream Palace of Horyuji Temple I went to last year~~ On a clear day, you can enjoy 360-degree views of Mount Fuji, Suruga Bay (the deepest part of Japan) and Miho Pine Grove from the platform. I went to Shizuoka Prefecture in August 2023! I will introduce some recommended spots there. First up is Toro Ruins. It is relatively close and easy to access, just under 10 minutes by bus from Shizuoka Station. The Shizuoka City Toro Museum, located on the same premises, has many materials and tools that show the lives of people at that time, so you should also go there. The next recommended spot is Sunpu Castle Park. It takes just under 30 minutes on foot from Shizuoka Station. I recommend going by taxi or bus. In Sunpu Castle Park, there is a very large statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu. It takes just under an hour to walk around the park, so it is better to go on the first day when you have enough energy. The last recommended spot is Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. It is about 20 minutes by taxi from Shizuoka Station. It is a spot that you should definitely visit when you come to Shizuoka. All of the stairs in Toshogu Shrine have quite a few steps, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothes. The tart crust is buttery and the cheese filling was so creamy and good. The top of the cheese tart has a golden brown tone to it and looks extremely yummy. Plenty of flavours are available, such as matcha, chocolate, Mont blanc, pumpkin etc. Other items sold in this cafe are apple pies, butter sand cookie sandwich and soft serve. There are limited seatings in this cafe if you're looking to chill at this place. One cheese tart is never enough as it's oozing with goodness. Get your hands on these tarts today.

I went to Nihon-daira Ropeway to go to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine! If you walk from Kunozanshita, you have to climb 1,159 stone steps, but you don't have to climb the ropeway, and you can arrive in just 5 minutes. It is recommended for those who are not confident in their legs. There is also a food and drink and souvenir corner. After the visit, while waiting for the bus to go home, I had a Shizuoka-only Aoi beer in Ieyasu's package! It was a blissful moment to be able to look at the scenery outside while drinking.
