To commemorate her birthplace and mother, Empress Wu Zetian specially ordered the construction of a stone sculpture of her true likeness within Huangze Temple, which is currently the only stone sculpture of Empress Wu's true likeness in the world. Huangze Temple does not have the traditional Buddhist temple's 'Mahavira Hall', but instead has the 'Zetian Hall' as its main hall. In the statue, Wu Zetian wears a tall and precious crown, sits in a lotus position, and forms the Dhyana mudra with her hands in front of her abdomen, solemn and sacred.
