Weekend getaway to Jeju: A short but fulfilling spring adventure
After working on Saturday, I managed to squeeze in a quick trip to Jeju. Arriving late in the evening, my first stop was the familiar Woojin Haejangguk restaurant. A spoonful of gosari haejangguk melted away my fatigue, and the deep ocean aroma of the seopguk made me truly feel I had arrived in Jeju.
The next morning, I hurried to Jeju University's cherry blossom path. The swaying cherry blossoms in the spring breeze made me forget my exhaustion. There were many people, but the cherry blossoms outnumbered them.
Next, I headed to Hyeopjae Beach. The sea was as stunningly beautiful as ever, and the view stretched all the way to Biyangdo Island. After a light stroll along the beach, I had lunch at Kim Manbok Gimbap.
After lunch, I passed by the yellow waves of canola flowers at Sanbangsan and quickly visited Hwangwoochi Coast as my final stop. The serene coastal scenery unique to Jeju, along with the occasional passersby, made for a short but deeply satisfying conclusion.
Though I moved around in a rush to catch my flight, it made the memories even more vivid. Even with limited time, Jeju always leaves you feeling fulfilled.
For busy people, a 1-night, 2-day trip to Jeju is just what you need.

Stroll at Hwanguji Coast
#aprilblooms
We recently took an stroll at Hwanguji Coast, and it was a truly peaceful experience. The parking was ample, and as it was late in the day, there weren't many people around, which made for a very relaxed atmosphere.
Hwanguji Coast is known as a snorkeling hotspot, particularly for its "fairy pond" (Seonnyeotang). While we didn't go snorkeling this time, it was clear that the area is beautiful and worth visiting even just for a walk. We even had some fun taking photos with the unique, pineapple-like trees that grow there!
We also noticed that there were citrus farm 체험 (experience) centers and other similar attractions nearby. Although they were closed due to the late hour, we thought it would be nice to visit them next time.
Interestingly, we learned that the "12 Donggul" (caves) at Hwanguji have a historical significance, having been built by the Japanese military to hide self-destructing torpedo boats. Knowing this history adds a layer of somberness to what otherwise appears to be a beautiful natural landscape, highlighting the hardships faced by the people of Jeju.
From a distance, we could see the famous Seonnyeotang (fairy pond). I have fond memories of snorkeling there with friends on a previous trip to Jeju, and it still looked as stunning as I remembered. We attempted to find the path down, but with the fading light and unclear directions, we decided to simply admire it from afar.
Overall, Hwanguji Coast offers a lovely blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Whether you're looking to snorkel in the clear waters of Seonnyeotang or simply enjoy a quiet walk along the coast, it's a worthwhile destination in Jeju. We're already considering a return visit to explore the nearby 체험 centers!

Mysterious Beach
It's always a mystery. I still haven't found a way to get to Hwangwooji Coast. Yet, it is listed as a travel destination everywhere.
This coastline is associated with the painful history of the Japanese occupation, featuring the Twelve Caves. You can only observe from a distance and cannot approach. Let's take a leisurely walk while accepting this fact. Moreover, if the weather gets even slightly bad, the waves get too high to go down.

Jeju Hwangwooji Beach, a natural swimming pool created by nature
There are many beaches in Jeju~ However, there are many sandy beaches or you have to walk a long way to find deep water to swim in, which is a hassle.
However, this Hwangwooji Beach in Jungmun is like a natural swimming pool. The rocks hold back the seawater, and the tides and waves continuously purify the water. The water inside is quite deep, so you can swim or snorkel!
They also lend life jackets in front, so be sure to go.
