Renovated old building in Zhongshan Park, two new Hyatt brands moved in, both are the first stores in Shanghai, so naturally, the globetrotters have to find a weekend to experience it and collect some stamps along the way. Chose the cheaper Caption by Hyatt first, with a small facade on Dingxi Road, easy to miss if you're not careful. The lobby is on the second floor, you have to go through the restaurant that's been turned into a reception space to get to the front desk, then take the elevator up. Hyatt members can't use their suite upgrade coupons here, and although I got upgraded to a higher category room, the view wasn't great due to the low floor, with just the parking lot's rooftop platform outside the window. The room's decor is more youthful, with rich colors, and the room isn't small, but the bathroom is a bit cramped. The hotel doesn't have a Regency Club or HH, overslept the next day and missed breakfast, so can't comment on the dining. Stayed for just one night, the parking lot is shared with The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, but you have to enter and exit through The Unbound's main gate, which is not very conspicuous on the Changning Road side.
