Ikuta Shrine is a famous shrine that appeared in "The Book of Japan" and "Pillow Grass Son". There is a vermilion temple in the center of the courtyard, and the lush Ikuta forest on the north side of the temple. There are also several famous flower spots in the courtyard, such as plum blossoms and Huzhihua, which are related to the military commanders in the late Heian period. Ikuta Shrine is a traditional sacrificial shrine. It is located in the urban area of Kobe and has been wrapped by modern buildings. However, the shrine also has a small garden, which makes the landscape here in sharp contrast with the surrounding area. The shrine hall is bright red as a whole, very Pretty. The goddess of the sun is enshrined in Ikuta Shrine, and the prayers for marriage and good health are effective, so there are many tourists throughout the year.

The Ikuta
The Ikuta Shrine is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in the country. It sits pretty much in the centre of town and surrounded by modern buildings. It is busy and the crowds can be large. There is a nice grove of trees in the back of the shrine that can provide some relief from the sun and the heat. It is worth the visit for sure and it's pretty easy to get to. The shrine itself is beautiful and ornate on the outside, humble and unflashy inside. There are lots of displays in English telling you about the place, it's origins, how it survived floods and earthquakes, the famous visitors and how to cleanse yourself before prayer. The forest garden is small but serene. The highlight was the old, old tree that must have fallen but it is mounted so you can see it's rings. A lovely place!

Japan Trip: Kobe, a Chill City|One-Day Leisure Tour Guide
Compared to the crowded Osaka and Kyoto, Kobe is a chill city, perfect for city walks, and is famous for Kobe beef! You will be reluctant to leave.
🔷🔷🔷My Kobe One-Day Tour Guide:
🚗Transportation: Take a bus from Osaka Kansai Airport to Kobe Sannomiya Station in one hour or take a ferry in half an hour.
🏨Accommodation: Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kobe Sannomiya Premier, a 7-8 minute walk from Kobe Sannomiya Station.
📅My Kobe One-Day Tour Itinerary:
⏰Morning - Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art (Take JR from Kobe Sannomiya Station to Nada Station)
🕐Afternoon - Ikuta Shrine - Kitano Ijinkan Street (10-minute walk between the two attractions)
💎Attraction Highlights:
📍Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art: A symbol of cultural restoration after the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The museum was designed by the famous architect Tadao Ando, and there is an exhibition of Tadao Ando's architectural works in the museum. The museum's treasure, the green apple sculpture "Youth," is on the roof and is a must-see photo spot!
📍Ikuta Shrine: I passed by it on my way to Kitano Ijinkan Street, and it was a pleasant surprise! It is famous for its effective prayers for marriage, and even the famous Japanese artist Norika Fujiwara held her wedding here! It was the only building that remained intact during the 1995 earthquake, so it is also known for resurrection and rebirth!
📍Kitano Ijinkan Street: One of Kobe's iconic attractions. It is home to embassies and consulates from various countries. The street is full of European-style buildings, and each exhibition hall displays various themed exhibits, which are very interesting! You can also try on Sherlock Holmes costumes at the British Pavilion!
📌Tips:
1️⃣The permanent exhibition at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art costs JPY 600, and the Ando Gallery is free to visit!
2️⃣For lunch, you can eat at Crab Noodle, not far from Kitano Ijinkan Street. Its crab noodles have a rich creamy flavor and are very delicious, worth a second visit!
3️⃣There are three types of tickets for Kitano Ijinkan Street. It takes 3-4 hours to visit all eight exhibition halls, so be sure to allow enough time. It is recommended to choose a ticket to visit the British Pavilion, Yokan Nagaya, and Ben's House, plus the Inconceivable Pavilion, which is worth visiting!

Kobe's Unique Shrine: Ookami Shrine in Front of Ikuta Shrine
Located right in front of the main gate of Kobe's Ikuta Shrine, there is a small yet significant shrine called Ookami Shrine. Despite its size, it attracts many locals and tourists due to its connection with Ikuta Shrine and its unique culture of blessings.
Ookami Shrine is dedicated to deities of the sea and commercial prosperity, making it particularly revered by those in the maritime industry and merchants. The shrine's architecture is simple yet exudes a strong traditional atmosphere. The red torii gate and shrine plaque contrast beautifully with the grandeur of Ikuta Shrine, making it exceptionally exquisite.
After visiting Ookami Shrine, you can also explore Ikuta Shrine, admire its magnificent architecture and gardens, and experience the unique religious culture and harmonious atmosphere of Kobe.

Beautiful Ikuta Jinja Shrine in Kobe, Japan ⛩️🇯🇵
Japan is the perfect summer destination with its warm weather and beautiful sunny days. Most people choose to visit the well known landmarks, but there are so many more things to see!
📍 Ikuta Jinja Shrine, Kobe, Japan
🚌 From Shin-Kobe Station, it is 1.1 miles. You can choose to walk, take a taxi, or take a bus to Sannomiya Station.
This shrine has appeared in ‘Pillow Grass Son’ and ‘The Book of Japan’. Inside, there is a vermilion temple and many popular flower gardens. The plum blossoms come alive each spring and are beautiful in photos. The surrounding tall buildings create a stark contrast between modern and traditional.

Kobe | An Off-the-Beaten-Path Artistic One-Day Tour
Visiting Kobe isn't just about Kobe beef and Nankinmachi
Save this niche route and snap photos until your hands are tired
Recommended Route
Maiko Park➡️Sannomiya Station➡️Kitano Ijinkan➡️Ikuta Shrine➡️Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art
—————————
1⃣️ Maiko Park
Just take the JR to Maiko Station, a super photogenic seaside park. Maiko Park has its own BE KOBE, which I personally think looks even better than the one at Kobe Port. There's also a Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall nearby with beautiful architecture worth checking out. Plus, there are lots of pine trees 🌲, which make for great photos with the play of light and shadow.
2⃣️ Sannomiya Station
Almost all the good food is here. I suggest looking for restaurants in the small alleys. Lunch won't be too expensive, and I think you can't go wrong with any beef dish.
3⃣️ Kitano Ijinkan
This area was the embassy district during the Meiji era and has a lot of Western-style buildings, which are characteristic of a port city. There are also super many coffee shops and dessert shops. Had chestnut cake with a friend and visited a unique Starbucks, which is also worth the visit.
4⃣️ Ikuta Shrine
A shrine ⛩️ that's said to be very effective for love wishes, located near Sannomiya Station. You might want to drop by.
5⃣️ Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art
A must-visit stunning museum for Tadao Ando fans. The architectural design is truly amazing. Saw a photo exhibition by Yasuji Asai and was reminded of the charm of film cameras; every shutter click brings a surprise.

On the 1st of January, the Ikuta Shrine New Year's Day Festival is the most popular place in Kobe. The first day is a traditional new year-end visit to Japan. People usually visit the major shrines on the night of December 31. The Ikuta Shrines Chadian Festival was held by the shrine of the shrine to beat the Taiko in the early morning of the New Years Eve, praying for the blessing of the gods.
When we went, the shrine was still in the preparation stage. In the front of the main hall, the "new year painting" of the year of the zodiac has been placed. Booths for the sale of goods during the New Years Day festival are also in place. There is also a courtyard and an Inari Shrine at the back of the main hall of Ikuta Shrine.
Ikuta Shrine is also the name of Kobe's cherry blossoms. You can buy the sakura of the cherry blossoms.
Maple.

The Kobe I
The Kobe Ikuta Shrine is said to have a history of a thousand years, enshrining the goddess of the sun, and seeking a special marriage. Later, a Shenmu in the courtyard germinated again after the fire, so it is also very healthy to seek health here.
It will take about ten minutes to walk from JR Sannomiya Station, and go to the Alien Hall. The shrine itself is not big, there is a small bird house behind, suitable for taking pictures h
