#seoul As the first stop of my DMZ tour in South Korea, I visited Imjingak which is a prominent area not to be missed about just 7km from the actual DMZ. Imjingak is famous as the place where Koreans separated from their families in North Korea visit to perform ancestral rites by bowing toward their hometowns every New Year’s Day and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving). Hence shrine monuments have also been built here for this very purpose at Imjingak. My rating of this attraction: 4 ⭐️ out of 5!

Paju City is located in the northwest of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea! #While traveling to Paju, I came to Imjingak Peace Nuri Park where I could see a lot of pinwheels!! I went to Imjingak for the first time, but it was so big and there were so many things to see, so it was a great place to go on a weekend outing :) If you go by public transportation, there are only two trains between Munsan and Imjingak a day, so check the schedule carefully.𖤐𖤐𖤐 📍Peace Nuri Park (1-5) A park full of colorful pinwheels! Pyeonghwauijong which is more known to us as The Peace Bell in Imjingak Peace Park, located in Majeong-ri, Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The Peace Bell was built in 2000 to pray for peace of the human race and national unification in celebration of the new millennium. Symbolizing the 21st century, it was built with 21 stairs and in the weight of 21 tons. Imjingak is the northernmost place where south korean residents and tourists can visit freely without any permission, located about 7km to the south from the Military Demarcation Line of two Koreas. I shopped at the outlet for about 2 hours and had lunch at a restaurant inside the outlet. Then I went to Imjingak to visit the cafe 'Pobi Bagel' located inside Imjingak. This is a cafe with a unique view of the barbed wire ㅎㅎ There aren't many seats, but I really wanted to go because the glass-walled cafe is pretty. After drinking coffee at Pobi Bagel Cafe, I went to Pyeonghwa Nuri Park and laid out a mat to relax. The sunset was so pretty that I didn't realize how much time had passed while looking at the sky! I had dinner at 'Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu' near the DMZ and came back. It was a day trip to Paju where I visited various places from morning to evening and had so much fun!! I recommend this course :)

Personally, I think Paju Imjingak PeaceNuriPark is a better place to picnic than Hangang:) It's wide open on all sides, so the feeling of openness is incredible. It's so wide that you can automatically keep your distance from other peopleㅋㅋ It's a perfect picnic spot for a date during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, since there aren't many restaurants or cafes nearby, I prepared coffee in advance. Delivery is also difficult, so I recommend bringing a packed lunch or buying food in advance when you come here for a picnic:)

This is a place that all Koreans must visit. Imjingak in Paju, the center of modern and contemporary history. Of course, it is still a symbol of peace. But recently, a cable car connecting the Imjin River was newly built. It was much better than I expected. I highly recommend this place where you can even see the US military barracks.

This visit to Imjingak is not just an ordinary tour, but more like a spiritual meditation and review of history. From the moment you enter the Imjingak Park, a strong historical atmosphere hits you. In the distance, you can see the cordon of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), as well as the clock tower and statue that symbolize peace. When I climbed up the main building of Imjingak and looked to the north, my heart felt both vast and heavy - vast because of the scenery before me, and heavy because of the emotion of the divided country. Behind that seemingly peaceful border are countless separated families and decades of political deadlock. During the visit, I was particularly impressed by the "Bridge of Freedom" and the historical materials on display about the Korean War. The Freedom Bridge was once a passage for prisoners of war to return home, and now it has become a landmark symbolizing hope and reunion, making people think about the true meaning of peace and freedom. #aprilblooms 🇰🇷Soulful Seoul🇰🇷 The next place we visited on our DMZ tour was the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, where we had the chance to walk inside the tunnel, we needed to wear a helmet and no devices allowed inside. The walk down and climb up was very steep. It was challenging to say the least. We had to crouch while walking once in the tunnel. ✨The tunnel was discovered in 1978. The length of this tunnel is 1635 meters, but the majority of this tunnel stays in North Korea and only a small portion of it stays in South Korea to be precise 1200 meters of this tunnel stays in the North and the rest stays in the South which is 435 meters. The tunnel lies 73 meters under the ground which is as high as 25-story building. We had to go down this deep using this walkway tunnel built by South Korea for tourists.
