Intercontinental Paris - Le Grand
Intercontinental Paris - Le Grand
This Paris trip, we will take everyone to see a luxury hotel with a history of more than 160 years, which is the Intercontinental Paris - Le Grand Hotel, located next to the Palais Ganier or Opera Ganier, the theater that is the prototype of the famous stage play Phantom of the Opera. Originally, this hotel was called "Le Grand Hotel" and opened since 1862, welcoming royal families and important people from many countries. Until 1982, the hotel joined the IHG group and became the Intercontinental Paris - Le Grand Hotel until today.
The hotel building has 4 floors and 470 rooms in total, making it one of the largest hotels in Paris. The hotel's rooms were recently renovated in 2021 by designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, making all the rooms and interior of the hotel beautiful and new, but still maintaining a classic feel.
The highlight of the hotel, in addition to the grandeur and luxury of Parisian style, is the location of the hotel, which is very convenient for traveling in Paris. Because the hotel is located near the Opera, where there are big department stores like Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, you can walk from St. Honoré all the way to the Louvre Museum. There is a RoissyBus stop from Charles de Gaulle Airport on the opposite side of the hotel, near the Metro station and many bus stops, making traveling in Paris easy and convenient.
In terms of the room, we stayed in the "1 King Premium Balcony" room. The highlight of this room is the room size that is quite large (larger than the general hotel rooms in Paris), there is a bathtub and a balcony to go out and enjoy the view. The interior of the room is beautifully decorated, classic and still has the atmosphere of the old Le Grand Hotel. The bed is so soft that it sucks your soul. And the most surprising thing is that this hotel has a bidet in the bathroom, which is usually not found in European hotels.
We also used the hotel's Lounge, which serves Breakfast, Afternoon tea and Evening Cocktails. I recommend it if anyone wants to spend time at the hotel after flying to Paris on the first day. Booking a room with Lounge access is very worthwhile because there is food and drinks to fill your stomach all day long. For breakfast, we chose to come down to the Cafe de la Paix restaurant, the main restaurant of the hotel. The breakfast buffet here is very full, with pastries, salads, cold cuts, and Asian food such as rice soup, fried dough sticks, and miso soup, because there are quite a lot of Asian guests staying here.
From staying here for 3 days and 2 nights, we were personally quite impressed with the convenience of the hotel, the airport, and the travel to various places. It is a hotel that is suitable and meets the needs of tourists very well. The breakfast is varied and delicious. The staff and service are up to the standards of the IHG group. You can be confident in safety. The starting price of a room is around 400 Euros / night (during the low season like when we stayed).
