Isthmus Peak Hike ~ The lake is as clean as a mirror
10/16 We drove to Isthmus Peak for hiking.
We originally planned to climb Roy's Peak, but after buying our tickets and planning our trip, we found out that Roy's Peak would be closed in October because of the lambing season.
So we changed our itinerary to Isthmus Peak. I saw online that it was relatively easy and I was kind of glad 🤣 (By the way, Isthmus Peak will also be closed from 11/20 to 12/20 due to the birth of fawns. You can confirm in advance whether it is like this every year)
But I didn't expect that it would take 5-7 hours to go back and forth for about 16 kilometers as stated online, but it took us 9 hours including taking photos🤣🤣🤣
Although I was very tired and my legs were sore, I have to say it was really beautiful.
It was a cloudless day, and the lake was as blue as the sky. We walked and stopped as we went, because we really wanted to record the beautiful scenery in front of us every moment.
Yes, it’s beautiful wherever you go.
The lake on the left in the first half is Lake Hawea. When you reach the latter part, you can see Lake Wanaka on the other side and the snow-capped mountains on the opposite side.
When you are tired of walking, it feels so good to sit down and feel the breeze and be surrounded by the beauty of nature😍
Be sure to pay attention to prevention, replenish water and food! Because there is almost no shade, in addition to wearing a hat, it is also important to protect your face and hands from the sun!
I was wearing long sleeves and didn't apply sunscreen on the back of my hands, so I got tanned several shades🤣🤣🤣
Although I didn't climb Roy's Peak as I had hoped, I think Isthmus Peak is also very beautiful. Although it took us a long time to go back and forth, most of the trails are easy to walk on and there are not many people. I highly recommend coming here!
