Magical Miyajima Island
This island is said to be where God lives.
The Itsukushima Shrine is in the coast because the entire island is considered the body of God and is sanctified.
You will not be disappointed whether you choose to just sit in a bench and appreciate the solemnity view of nature or ride in a cable car going up to the mountain to see the majestic scenery above the ocean. It’s solemn beauty makes
it so magical that most of people may leave their foot prints but in some their heart in Miyajima Island.

[Hiroshima] Miyajima's best spot ⛩ Itsukushima Shrine
Itsukushima Shrine, a World Heritage Site in Miyajima, Hiroshima Prefecture. ⛩
This shrine is also known as one of the Three Most Scenic Views of Japan.
A wooden torii gate stands about 16 meters tall above the sea.
In fact, the base of the torii gate is not buried in the seabed, but is supported by piles that have been driven into the ground to strengthen it and allow it to stand by its own weight.

[Hiroshima, Miyajima] Itsukushima Shrine
Access: About 10 minutes by ferry from JR Miyajimaguchi Pier
・JR ferry → This is recommended for first-time visitors to Miyajima, as it passes close to the great torii gate! To avoid crowds, this is also recommended for those who go early in the morning or late at night.
・Matsudai Kisen → This is the better option for those who have been to Miyajima many times!
By the way, I decided to depart on the Matsudai Kisen ferry because of my schedule and because the great torii gate was under repair and there was no point in going close to it.
When I went in the spring of 2020, the great torii gate was still under repair, but I wonder if the repair work is finished now?
It was a shame that I couldn't see the great torii gate, but considering that the great torii gate is repaired once every hundred years, I might have been lucky. . .
Take a leisurely stroll along the sandy beach, say hello to the deer 🦌, and enjoy Hiroshima's famous lemon 🍋 pork bowl, conger eel rice, and fried momiji manju! ! 🍁
Next time, I want to relax until high tide~

Itsukushima Shrine (Itsukushima Shrine, Hiroshima) – The Enchanting Torii Floating in the Sea.
Located on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, Itsukushima Shrine is a beautiful tourist destination counted among Japan's three most scenic spots. The shrine is particularly famous for its large vermilion torii gate that appears to float on the sea, offering different views depending on the tide. At high tide, the gate looks as if it is floating on the water, while at low tide, visitors can walk right up to its base.
The shrine itself, founded in the Heian period, is a historic site featuring beautiful corridors and a main hall. The atmosphere becomes especially magical during the evening when the shrine is illuminated. Miyajima is also home to wild deer, which are very popular with tourists.
Additionally, Miyajima is famous for its local specialties such as momiji manju (maple leaf-shaped sweet buns) and grilled oysters, making it a great place for food lovers. The island is conveniently accessible by a 10-minute ferry ride from Hiroshima City, making it perfect for a day trip. With its blend of history, nature, and gourmet delights, Miyajima is a highly recommended spot for travelers in Japan.

⛩️ Strolling on Miyajima 🚢 To Itsukushima Shrine
I took a leisurely stroll to Itsukushima Shrine ✨ Heading to Miyajima by boat, the large torii gate slowly coming closer was very impressive! Its appearance standing on the sea is truly one of the most beautiful views in Japan. Looking at it up close, the vermilion pillars were imposing and very cool ⛩️
Walking through the shrine, the view from the corridor was open, and it was also fascinating to see how the expression changed with the tides. I was able to enjoy a relaxing time playing with the deer and eating delicious momiji manju 🍁 while being soothed by the relaxed atmosphere of Miyajima ✨

Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima)
Itsukushima Shrine, located on the island of Miyajima in Hiroshima Bay, is famous for its iconic "floating" torii gate. This giant red gate stands in the Seto Inland Sea, appearing to float during high tide, creating a truly magical scene. The shrine itself is dedicated to the three daughters of Susano-o-no-Mikoto, the Shinto god of sea and storms. Its elegant buildings, connected by walkways over the water, are a beautiful example of traditional Japanese architecture. The combination of the shrine, the torii gate, and the surrounding natural scenery makes Miyajima one of Japan's most picturesque destinations.

but I was able to visit again after a long time.
Lots of 🦌,

It's nice that you can easily get there by ferry.
I was also able to eat my favorite okonomiyaki, so it was a satisfying day.
When you think of Hiroshima, it's all about momiji manju
I was able to buy a lot of momiji manju as souvenirs,
It's one of the places I want to visit regularly again 😇
I was lucky to be able to see a beautiful bride 🤞

A Sacred Sunset at Miyajima’s Floating Torii Gate

Miyajima Island, home to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, is one of the most iconic places to watch a sunset in Japan. The shrine’s red torii gate appears to float on the water during high tide, creating a mystical scene as the sun sets behind it. As the sky fades into hues of orange and pink, the torii gate and surrounding mountains are bathed in the soft, warm glow of dusk, offering a truly spiritual experience. The combination of cultural heritage and natural beauty makes Miyajima Island a must-visit destination for those seeking a #BestSunset moment in Japan, offering tranquility and wonder in equal measure.

🕰️Opening hours: 6:30-18:00
🏖️Atmosphere/Facilities: National Treasure, Important Cultural Property, One of the Three Great Views of Japan. As it is a shrine, it is advisable to dress appropriately for the time, place and occasion. You should also be mindful of your attitude.
📍Location: Miyajima
💰Price per person: Adults ¥300, High School Students ¥200, Elementary and Middle School Students ¥100
💞Reasons for Recommended: Amazing views.
🗓️Itinerary Management: It is recommended to visit early in the morning when there are fewer people. There are just too many tourists, and their attitudes are very bad, which makes it unpleasant. Foreigners who have no faith in shrines are the worst, and they defile sacred shrines as if they were at a zoo or amusement park. Please observe manners. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Please ban rude foreigners.
Shrines are not zoos.

Itsukushima Shrine, located in Miyajima, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
Itsukushima Shrine is beautiful at both low and high tide, but at low tide you can walk to the large torii gate.
You can see both high and low tide depending on the season, so I recommend checking the times on the Internet in advance.
There are many restaurants on Miyajima that serve the famous conger eel rice bowl and other places where you can eat while walking, so I stayed there from noon to night and enjoyed it to the fullest.
You can get from the main island to Miyajima by ferry.
If you purchase a one-day Hiroshima Electric Railway pass, you can ride the entire Hiroshima Electric Railway line + Miyajima Matsudai Kisen (Miyajimaguchi to Miyajima route) for 1,000 yen a day, and you can ride both the train and the ferry for free, so it's a great deal to see Hiroshima and Miyajima, so I recommend it.

I've always wanted to go there, and finally I was able to go during Golden Week this year!
I landed on a ferry, and when I looked around, there were a lot of deer! I was surprised because I had no idea about it! 😍🤳🦌✨
I thought the journey would be long after looking at the souvenir shops, but it was a short one and it was fun!
If you get tired, you can rest on the second floor of the general information center! It was empty, and I ate momiji manjuage there too! 😋
As you can see in the photo, there were a lot of birds and it was rich in nature! Apparently there is a wedding venue, so it would be nice to hold a wedding here someday! ! !
Make sure to check the low tide times! ! ! (For those who want to walk)

#cherryblossom2024
🤗🪷 Amidst the enchanting vacation, I embarked on a thrilling journey to the vibrant city of Japan. The arrival of spring had turned the area into a paradise and visiting Itsukushima Shrine left us feeling rejuvenated. Surrounded by the luxurious landscapes of this tranquil sanctuary, we were captivated by the stunning views that unfolded before us at every twist and turn, leaving us with memories that would endure a lifetime.
Nestled on the petite island of Miyajima, adjacent to the illustrious Hiroshima city, lies the resplendent Itsukushima Shrine. This architectural marvel, recognized as a World Heritage site, boasts a rich history that traces back to the 12th century. To indulge in the most breathtaking vista, ascend to the vicinity encompassing the Tahoto pagoda. From this vantage point, you shall be bestowed with a mesmerizing spectacle of the pagoda adorned with delicate cherry blossoms, harmoniously juxtaposed against the backdrop of the iconic scarlet torii gate, gracefully emerging from the crystalline waters of the Seto Inland Sea.
The lavish and captivating sanctuary has imprinted a lasting memory in the innermost depths of my consciousness. The sheer delight of revisiting and relishing every moment in this unmatched haven is truly incomparable.🌸✨️🩷💮#mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip

[A collaboration of cherry blossoms and torii gates★] Itsukushima Shrine
We went in April, so we could see beautiful cherry blossoms★
Also, we went at low tide, so we could get close to the torii gate and see it from the front.
There was a line at the photo spot of Itsukushima Shrine, so if you go at low tide, you can take a picture of the torii gate from the front without waiting.
Also, the cherry blossoms were blooming everywhere and it was very beautiful.
We went to the hilltop and went to a restaurant where you can eat while watching the cherry blossoms from the highest point.
The price was a little high, but the view was good, so we were satisfied.
The deer with a cherry blossom on its nose was cute★

#summerdream Travel to Japan by yourself. You must come here. Itsukushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine located on Itsukushima Island, also known as Miyajima, in Hiroshima Bay, Japan. This shrine is famous for its large red torii gate that appears to float in the middle of the sea when the tide is high. This shrine is also dedicated to the god of the sea and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Japan.

Mysterious Itsukushima Shrine
This shrine is located on Miyajima in Hiroshima. It is famous for its torii gates located in the sea. When the tide goes out, you can walk to the base of the torii gates.
To get to Itsukushima Shrine from Hiroshima, take the Miyajima Ferry from JR Miyajimaguchi Station or Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station. The JR station is a little far from the ferry terminal.
When you enter Itsukushima Shrine after arriving on the island, the inside is a vivid and beautiful red, and you will feel a mysterious feeling.
When the tide comes in, it is above the sea water, which is also mysterious.
I think it is a shrine that you must see.

Miyajima Island is just a few minutes boat ride from Hiroshima mainland.Greeted by deers as you disembark, this beautiful island offers so much.
From its world heritage site(inscribed in 1996)the Itsukushima shrine(Itsukushima translates to the island of worship) and its famous O-Torii gates(was unfortunate it was under renovations at the time)to its beautiful views from the top of mount Misen.
These adds to the many reasons why i love Hiroshima and wish to explore more in 2024

[Hiroshima] View the torii gates on the sea! Itsukushima Shrine
I went to Itsukushima Shrine for the first time in about 10 years⛴️
Itsukushima Shrine is a World Heritage Site and is famous as a shrine standing on the sea⛩️
When I went there before, it was close to low tide, but this time it was almost high tide🌊
So the tide was full all the way to the shrine and it was beautiful💕
You can walk to the torii gate at low tide, but I prefer it when the tide is full🫶
The weather was nice and the waves were sparkling, it was the best🥹
It was the first day of a three-day weekend, so I think I waited 30 minutes to visit and about an hour to take the first photo!
I had a great time at Itsukushima, eating Rilakkuma momiji manju for the first time😋
I was full and had a lot of fun!
