Masumida Shrine is the first shrine to be visited in Owari Province, known as the 'Ichinomiya,' and holds significant historical importance. The name of Ichinomiya City is derived from this shrine, highlighting its central role in the development of the area. The deity enshrined here is the grandchild of the deity worshipped at Ise Grand Shrine. The shrine is believed to bring blessings for career success, advancement, good fortune, protection from misfortune, and prosperity of descendants. Additionally, within the same grounds is Hatori Shrine, which is popular for blessings related to matchmaking and safe childbirth.

My route: I took the Tokyu Toyoko Line from Shibuya to Okurayama Station (about 30 mins), then transferred to a bus. But honestly — it’s beautiful and worth the trip! It’s quite a hidden gem for tourists, but still popular with locals, including nearby residents and some foreign expats. (Even at its busiest, it’s nowhere near as crowded as Meguro River!) I went to the former orchid house, Flarie, in Naka-ku, Nagoya. I knew it existed for a while, but this was my first time entering. There is no admission fee, and once you pass through the entrance, you will find a spacious garden as shown in the photo. At the back of the south side of the garden, there is a small pond with benches around it, making it a relaxing place to rest like an oasis in the city. There is also a cafe in the garden where you can enjoy various soft drinks including coffee and snacks.
