Kailand Park is located in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is one of the three famous gardens in Japan, along with "Kenroku-en" in Kanazawa and "Korakuen" in Okayama. This garden used to be open to the common people in the domain on the third and eighth of every month. Because of this non-classical spirit, it was named "Kaiyuan". This spirit has continued to this day, so Kailand is the only free admission among the three famous gardens in Japan. In July 1999, Kaiyuan and the adjacent Qianbo Park were merged into "Kaiyuan Park", becoming the second largest urban park in the world, second only to Central Park in New York. It is famous for the plum blossoms in the garden. There are more than 3,000 plum blossoms in 100 species in Kaiyuan. Every February and March, Kaiyuan attracts tourists from all over the world who come to appreciate the plum. There are many famous landscapes in the park, such as "Haowen Pavilion" and "Tuyu Spring" where clear water flows from a well of Hanshui stone (marble) with a diameter of 2 meters. In addition, cauliflower, autumn chrysanthemum and other seasonal flowers and plants are planted. It is very popular with young lovers and tourists traveling with the whole family. It has become a place for citizens to relax and entertain. In addition, there are various festivals such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Rhododendron Festival, the Huzhizi Festival, and the Chrysanthemum Festival.
