Kalemegdan Fortress, built during the Ottoman Empire, is one of Serbia's first officially declared cultural monuments. Located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, 'Kalemegdan' translates to 'fortress battlefield.' Kalemegdan Fortress is considered one of the best-preserved urban fortresses in the world. An ancient fortress, a witness to history. Kalemegdan Fortress, more accurately described as a stronghold, features numerous gates within its walls. Alongside the massive stone walls, you can find weapons like cannons and tanks left over from World War I and World War II. As a former important military base, the fortress bears the marks of different eras, including the Roman, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian Empires. It's definitely worth a visit!

One of the main things to do is visit the Kalamegdan fortress. It’s a beautiful walk around in history with nature. Go to the Victor monument which is posted on signs throughout the fortress and enjoy this beautiful view of Belgrade.

What I really liked about Kalemegdan park in Belgrade that it had something for everyone. Kids games, carnivals, live music, bars, sports area, sun bathing, great views, BBQ area, museums, a lot of walking, restaurants, and pretty much anything. It was heartwarming to just walk around for couple hours and see everyone enjoying an entirely different activity in the same place. They have done great job to take care of the place and I hope I can find more parks like this. #voyagevibes

During my weekend stay in Belgrade. While there were several experiences and sights that surprised me in a pleasant manner. The most joyful of them was my visit to the kalemegdan park. This park is part of the complex which also houses the Belgrade fortress and some unique heritage structures. What works exceptionally well in the park's favour is the location by the river. That gives you a very nice feeling to walk along. Especially in the pleasant hours of late afternoon. This is the location where the two rivers of Belgrade are in confluence. This causes a natural peaceful atmosphere. Throughout the park there are various things to see including the view of the city. And if you stick around the sunset it is even better.
