Founded in 1905. Kamaei, Otaru's leading kamaboko shop
I went to the factory store as recommended by my boyfriend who loves to travel.
We arrived at around 5pm, so the factory work had already finished.
We couldn't tour the factory, but we were able to buy hot kamaboko at the store.
This time, my friend and I ordered Hiraten, Kinpira, and Cheese Chikuwa.
All of them were more delicious than we expected and we were very satisfied. 🤤
First, the Hiraten was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the texture was exquisite, and the umami of the fish was really strong.
When I put it in my mouth, the sweetness spread more than I expected. 😳
Next, Kinpira. The moderate sweetness and spiciness whet my appetite, and it was seasoned so that I wanted to eat it with rice.
The firm texture of the burdock and the spicy taste were accents, so I couldn't get bored of eating it.
Finally, the cheese chikuwa. Here, the richness of the cheese and the refreshing taste of the chikuwa are exquisitely intertwined, and the rich flavor of the cheese spreads with every bite.
This is a must-have for cheese lovers.
Kamaei has a wide selection of standard dishes using fresh local seafood, and it is clear that each dish is carefully made 🐟
They also have a store at New Chitose Airport, but if you come to Otaru, this is a place you should definitely stop by.
