In 2017, I went to Ibaraki Prefecture. After visiting the Hitachi Seaside Park, I also visited Hitachi Station in Ibaraki Prefecture, which is known as the most beautiful station in the world, and had afternoon tea at SEA BiRDS CAFÉ in the station. The sky was cloudy on the day of the visit, so I couldn't see the most beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. Waffle House didn't make a reservation in advance and was unable to sit in the best seat by the window. For drinks, my mother ordered Cappuccino (450 yen/about HK$32), which was of good quality. For waffles, I ordered White Hojicha Latte (580 yen/about 40 Hong Kong dollars). Picture soaking in a steaming rotenburo (outdoor hot spring) while looking out at hillsides painted pink with sakura. I stayed at a traditional ryokan, where they served seasonal dishes with sakura-themed touches — even the sweets had edible petals! After a long hike through the nearby sakura forest trails, coming back to that bath was heavenly. The air was still chilly, so the warmth of the water and the sight of blossoms against the blue twilight sky was pure magic. This was my second time at Hitachi Station on business, and although Hitachi's business there is not as thriving as it used to be, it was disappointing that there were surprisingly few people at such a scenic spot. The hotel also offers ocean view rooms, in a great location from which you can view the horizon. The breakfast area itself is not large, but all the food was delicious and I would have liked to try it all if my stomach allowed. If I have the opportunity, this is a hotel I would consider top priority again.
