Akagakiya is an authentic Japanese izakaya located along the Kamo River in Kyoto, near Nijo Bridge. It exudes the atmosphere of the Taisho and Showa eras, with retro tatami rooms. Specializing in oden, grilled, and fried dishes, the flavors are Kansai-style, light and sweet. It's a traditional taste that can only be found in long-established izakayas, truly wonderful and atmospheric. Akagakiya is a well-known old shop in Kyoto, having opened in 1949. Without a reservation, you might not know how long you'll have to wait. Although the menu doesn't list prices, it's actually not expensive, and there are staff who speak Chinese, so ordering is not a problem. We ordered quite a lot: duck gizzard, yuba, mutsu-yaki, pickled mackerel, grilled eel, karaage chicken, etc. Almost everything was great, and it paired perfectly with draft beer. #MarchGoodPlaces2025 Shijo Bridge is a bridge across the Kamogawa River in Kyoto, Japan. It was built in 1142 (the second year of the Eiji Era) and is a bridge with a very long history. There is a lot of traffic here, and the western part of the Kamogawa River is the commercial district of Shijo Kawaramachi. The crowded people on the bridge are in stark contrast to the people sitting on the riverside below the bridge after a leisurely stroll. If you come in spring or autumn, you can enjoy the blooming cherry blossoms and falling maple leaves. It is so beautiful. (Unfortunately, I came a little late, and the cherry blossom season has passed. Although it is a little regrettable, it feels a little unrealistic to be able to walk in such a long history and integrate it with real life. 🙈) The tranquility of Kamogawa makes people reluctant to leave. But this is the last stop of the Osaka-Kyoto trip. If I didn't have to catch a flight and rush back to the hotel to get my luggage, I really hope to continue walking along the Kamogawa River (but it seems a bit difficult to walk 33 kilometers 😂), and I can also see one of the unique scenery of the Kamogawa River, various strange flying stones and turtle stones, which are attractions that appear in many TV dramas and animations. #japantrip The famous Kamo river is located in Kyoto Perfecture as a walking spot for the local people and foreign tourists especially during the autumn season as you will be able to see the maple leaves surrounded the river. Visiting here, do get yourself to enjoy a meal at the restaurant by the river in order to enjoy the view by the window!! #Sakura2024 🌸 Wakaba Park along the Kamo River in Kyoto It is a small playground and public park in the heart of Kyoto where Japanese teenagers come to lay down mats and have picnics to celebrate the hanami festival.
