Below is a classic 8-day itinerary: Chengdu - Kangding - Xinduqiao: Depart from Chengdu, pass through the Erlang Mountain Tunnel, and arrive in Kangding. Kangding is a county level city that is 8,400 feet ( 2560 m) above sea level. It is located at the seat of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuna, China. It is the home of Han Chinese, Tibetans and other minorities. Getting There - From Chengdu you can either take a bus or by plane. Buses to Kangding leave from Xinnamen Bus Station. The journey takes you about 5-8 hours deoending on traffic. If you are going during holiday than it is carzy traffic. It took us 14 hours. That's how busy the roads are to Kangding.
