Kashgar is located in the west of China and the southwest of Xinjiang, and is an integral and important part of China's territory. It has a long history, splendid culture and rich ethnic customs. In the long historical process, it has always shared the same destiny with the motherland. The Kashgar Museum is located on Tianshan West Road in Kashgar. The new museum was planned and built in 2007, covering an area of 50 mu and a construction area of 15,100 square meters. The main building is divided into four floors, with an exhibition area of 6,500 square meters. There are more than 5,300 pieces (sets) of collections and 63 (pieces) of precious cultural relics. The collection ranges from the late Paleolithic period to modern times. Important cultural relics include: microliths collected from Upal Township, Shufu County, Tang Dynasty Buddhist sculptures collected from the Tuokuzisalai site in Bachu County, ancient books and archival documents collected in Kashgar area, etc. Famous cultural relics include the three-ear embossed pottery jar from the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Kashgar Museum is a comprehensive historical museum. From its establishment in 1992 to the completion of the new building in 2020, the Kashgar Regional Museum was located at No. 19, Tawuguzi Road, Kashgar City, with Kashgar Historical Relics Exhibition and Kashgar Folk Customs Exhibition as its basic exhibitions. There are currently four basic exhibitions, namely: Kunlun River Basin, Ancient Road Relics - Kashgar Historical Relics Exhibition, China Xinjiang Historical, Ethnic, Religious and Cultural Special Exhibition, Kashgar Regional Economic and Social Development Exhibition, and Kashgar Regional Planning Exhibition. Since its establishment in 1992, the Kashgar Museum has taken meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of citizens and improving their ideological and moral qualities as their main mission. It has organically combined the functions of collection and preservation, scientific research, and publicity and education, and held various forms of displays and exhibitions and social education activities, forming an exhibition and education system in which basic displays, temporary exhibitions, mobile museums, and social education activities complement each other, showing the connotation of Kashgar's history and culture to the general audience from multiple angles.
