It was a solo trip to Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰 Copenhagen is a city that effortlessly blends history, modern design, and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for solo travelers and photographers alike. From vibrant streets to tranquil gardens, there are countless spots perfect for capturing memories. I started my day by visiting Nyhavn, one of Copenhagen’s most iconic spots. The picturesque canal lined with colorful buildings is something you’ve probably seen in many photos 📸 but nothing compares to experiencing it in person. Early morning ☀️ is the best time to capture the reflections of the vibrant houses in the calm waters before the crowds arrive. I loved walking along the canal, snapping pictures of the boats and the charming architecture 🙌 From there, I walked to Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the Danish royal family. The square is grand, and the changing of the guard ceremony happens daily, which was a perfect moment to photograph 📸 the palace and the guards in their traditional uniforms 💯 📍Amalienborg Palace – Amalienborg, 1257 København K, Denmark I then headed to one of Copenhagen’s most famous landmarks, the Little Mermaid 🧜♀️ statue. It was a bit crowded, but I still managed to take some great photos from different angles. I recommend capturing it from the side or with the water as a backdrop for a more dynamic shot 📸 From there, I explored Kastellet, a star-shaped fortress just a short walk away. The grounds are peaceful, with lush greenery, old military buildings, and a windmill. It’s a quiet, serene place, perfect for getting shots of historic architecture and nature. The area around the water and the windmill made for some of my favorite photos of the trip 😍 📍The Little Mermaid – Langelinie, 2100 København, Denmark I began my second day in Copenhagen by visiting Rosenborg Castle 🏰 a stunning Renaissance era palace. The architecture and the surrounding gardens 🌺 made for a perfect morning photo session. I spent some time walking through King’s Garden, which offers great views of the castle, with beautiful flowers and trees framing the scene. The early morning light ✨ hitting the castle’s towers created a magical atmosphere, perfect for capturing both the grandeur of the building and the lush surroundings 🙌 📍Rosenborg Castle – Øster Voldgade 4A, 1350 København, Denmark I also visited Frederiksberg Gardens, a large park with beautifully landscaped grounds, fountains ⛲️ and a serene lake. It’s perfect for a relaxed stroll and an opportunity to photograph nature, statues, and the picturesque surroundings. The park offers plenty of photo opportunities 📸 especially near the lakeside and the small bridges that cross over. Copenhagen’s charm lies not only in its famous sights but also in its quiet corners, which I truly enjoyed capturing. In April 2023 I took a trip to Copenhagen, my first time visiting Denmark and in fact the Nordics. Out of all the European cities I've visited, this is my favourite! Main 5 reasons to visit: 1. Amazing culture and history 🏰 2. Delicious Danish pastries 🥐 3. A welcoming and friendly community 🙂 4. Hundreds of attractions 🎡 5. Cheap to fly to ✈️ While in the Danish capital, you must visit Kastellet Fortress to get a glimpse of the historic culture Copenhagen has to offer. While in the area, The Little Mermaid is worth paying a visit; despite all the vandalism she's been through, she's survived to tell the tale to hundreds of tourists that visit every day. You can't visit Denmark without visiting Sankt Peders Bageri, Copenhagen's oldest Danish bakery. I'd recommend a cinnamon roll. For the budding photographer, The Round Tower is worth a journey for the panoramic view of the city. 📷 Copenhagen Zoo if you find time, is incredibly vast as well and it's very good value for money. At night, the city comes to life with a busy atmosphere, buildings lighting up the sky and tourists lining the streets as they enjoy local food and drink. Know before you go... - Plan ahead for accommodation - hotels are expensive; while hostels offer great value for money. - Card payments are the future in Denmark, I'd advise against exchanging cash. - 3-4 days is about the right amount of time to enjoy what the city has to offer. Kastellet is a centuries-old star-shaped fortress located in the heart of Copenhagen. It offers a peaceful and serene atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely walk amidst red buildings, earthen walls, and surrounding canals. Here, you can admire the old windmill, cannons, and stunning city views as you stroll along the fortress paths. Wildlife such as squirrels and birds can also be spotted along the way. This park is situated near the Little Mermaid statue and St. Alban’s Church, making it ideal for both history enthusiasts and nature lovers. A walk here provides a relaxing experience and a true taste of Copenhagen’s charm.

As you walk on, you get to see a beautiful yellow church called the Kastelskirken and a windmill too. By the water area, you can catch a glimpse of the St Alban church and it's nice silhouette against the sky, which was just gorgeous. The Kastellet is a place where you must visit in Copenhagen, with so much to see you will definitely love it.

Kastellet Fort is one of my favourite place in Copenhagen for getting away from hustle and the bustles city centre. It's so calm and peaceful here spend your mornings walking down the gardens or jog along. The last windmill in Copenaghen and is located in Kastellet. The structure is similar to the dutch windmills, and it dates back to the 1600s. Kastellet in Copenhagen is one of the best preserved star fortresses in Northern Europe. Once you can enter the garden you’ll find a few buildings like a church, today it is a very important historic place in Denmark with a beautifully preserved public park.
