Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, a lucky charm for digging sweet potatoes and catching sea bream⛩️🥰 Finally we arrived at Hikawa Jinja Shrine where the kids were looking forward to playing! Hikawa Jinja Shrine has a history of 1,500 years and is registered as a designated cultural heritage by Kawagoe City. It has the largest wooden torii gate in Japan (15 meters). The gods of the couple (Susanoo no Mikoto and Kiinadahime-no-mikoto), the parents of Kiinadahime-no-mikoto (Kyomu no Mikoto and Temu no Mikoto), and the couple's child, Oki no Takamikoto, are enshrined. The main prayers are for good fate, a happy marriage and a happy family. Hikawa Shrine is located at the northernmost end of Kawagoe City and was the last place we arrived at on our itinerary. The company has different colors of Tai Mikan fortune slips every month. In July, they are red and pink, and they used to have purple! Miyazaki Dog and Penguin each caught one and took it home, they had a lot of fun 😂 Maybe it’s the season for sweet potatoes, and Kumamon has a chance to dig up red and yellow sweet potatoes to match his look🤣 The painted horse tunnel where people pray for their wishes to come true and the wind chimes hung everywhere made people feel cozy and comfortable despite the 35-degree temperature. The Clock of Time in Kawagoe Kurazukuri Old Street The Toki-no-Kane is a bell tower in Kurazukuri Street and has been designated as a tangible cultural property by Kawagoe City. The main body of the bell tower is a three-story tower-like structure, about 16 meters high. The bell is rung four times a day: at 6 a.m., 12 noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. The children went out to take pictures, and the pictures were so beautiful in the good weather. The shrine itself isn't large, but walk through it and you'll find cherry blossoms lining the riverbank, and best of all, very few people! ⛩️ Hikawa Shrine (ひかわじんじゃ) 📌 2-11-3 Miyashita-machi, Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture 🚊 From Ikebukuro, take the Tobu Tojo Line Express; from Shinjuku, take the Seibu Shinjuku Line Express. It takes about half an hour to reach Kawagoe Station, then transfer to a bus for about 15 minutes. ⛩️ Kawagoe has many well-preserved buildings from the Edo period, earning it the nickname "Little Edo." 🌸 The cherry blossoms here line both sides of the Shingashi River. When the wind blows, you can see petals gently falling into the river. Imagine how beautiful it must be 2–7 days after full bloom, when the water's surface is covered with a layer of cherry blossom petals! 🎐 If you come in the summer, you can experience the "Enmusubi Wind Chime Festival." The long corridor adorned with wind chimes is incredibly beautiful, and the gentle breeze creates a pleasant ringing sound. 🐟 This is also a great place to pray for good luck in love. Hikawa Shrine has a unique fortune-telling method where you can fish for a "tai" (sea bream) charm for 300 yen. It's novel and fun. The amulets here are also very beautiful, and a shrine maiden will ring a bell and pray for you.
