Festivals
The Kawazu Sakura Festival is the earliest cherry blossom festival in eastern Japan. While most places on Honshu have to wait until mid-March for the flowers to bloom, the Kawazu trees bloom a month earlier. This makes the Kawazu Sakura Festival, which runs from February 2 to the end of February, very popular with visitors who are looking forward to the end of winter, the return of milder weather and spring scenery. The Kawazu trees bloom a month earlier than most places During the festival, the number of visitors exceeds 1 million per year The large petals of the Kawazu trees are a vivid pink, making them perfect for photo ops The festival spans from Kawazu Town to Mine Onsen, with the focus being the banks of the Kawazu River. Food stalls are set up along the streets along the river, where you can also buy local handicrafts and souvenirs. Various events are held to entertain and delight festival-goers, and at night the cherry trees are lit up with beautiful illuminations. Kawazu-cho is crowded with people because of the train station, so if you want to enjoy the fleeting cherry blossoms in peace, walk up the river to Mine Onsen.

One day tour from Tokyo, Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival🌸
#Tokyo Cherry Blossoms
The earliest thing you can see every year is the Kawazu Cherry Blossoms. This time I went to the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival to see the cherry blossoms🌸🌸
The biggest feature here is that the entire river is full of cherry trees!
The 2025 Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from February 1st to March 9th, and there are nearly 8,000 Kawazu Sakura trees!
And you can also take photos of rapeseed flowers and cherry blossom trees😆
In addition, every year during the Cherry Blossom Festival, there are all kinds of stalls where you can buy food and enjoy the flowers 😄
I recommend you to buy the pink abalone grill and take a picture with the cherry trees🤗
However, I went this time near the last day of the festival, so there were many cherry blossoms that were not in full bloom🥹
I recommend you to come here next year if you want to 🤗
For transportation to the Sakura Festival, I recommend joining a one day tour or driving there☺️
I participated in a one day tour from Tokyo this time, if you don't want to plan your own itinerary, I recommend you join the tour😆

The Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival in Kawazu Town, the birthplace of Kawazu cherry blossoms, will be held again this year! 800 early-blooming cherry trees with dark pinks are planted along the river, and the contrast between the river and the cherry blossoms is a spectacular sight. Every year, the area is crowded with many people, and on weekends it is difficult to walk. Therefore, it is recommended to visit early in the morning or in the evening after 4pm. There are several parking lots in the area, but be careful as they fill up quickly! 📍Spot name: Kawazu Cherry Blossom FestivalAddress: Kawazu Town, Shizuoka PrefectureCost: FreeRecommendation: Early morning or evening is recommended as there are fewer people. ⚠Caution: It gets very crowded at good times.
