When looking for delicious food in Keelung, you definitely have to visit the Keelung Miaokou Night Market!
Although it's called a night market, it actually opens at 12 PM, and more vendors start operating after 5 PM, continuing until midnight!
The transportation is extremely convenient. You can get off at Keelung Train Station and walk for ten minutes to reach the market 🤩. From Ai 2nd Road to Ai 3rd Road on Ren 3rd Road, there are numerous food stalls. In just a short distance of 300-400 meters, nearly 200 stalls are gathered.
I highly recommend the bite-sized sausages 🤤. You must pair them with a clove of garlic. The small sausages can be bought individually, are super juicy, and have a nice charcoal flavor, all at a reasonable price.
For souvenirs, I choose Jin Xing Ma Lao, which is made with granular peanuts. It has a great texture and comes in many flavors.

A Taste of Tradition: Exploring Keelung Miaokou Night Market
Keelung Miaokou Night Market, located in the heart of Keelung, Taiwan, offers a unique and authentic night market experience that stands out from others. This bustling market is known for its traditional local stalls, each serving up classic Taiwanese street food with a distinct Keelung twist. It’s a place where visitors can truly immerse themselves in the city’s food culture.
Among the must-try dishes at Miaokou are the famous Crab Thick Soup and Gua Bao. The Crab Thick Soup, a rich and savory broth, is a local delicacy that has been perfected over generations, while the Gua Bao—steamed buns filled with tender pork belly, pickled mustard greens, and crushed peanuts—is a beloved comfort food in the region.
What makes the night market even more special is the presence of a historic temple right in the middle of the action. The temple adds a unique cultural dimension to the market, where visitors can enjoy not only the food but also the traditional spiritual atmosphere. The combination of authentic local dishes, a lively market environment, and the temple’s calming presence makes Keelung Miaokou Night Market a truly distinctive destination for food lovers and culture seekers alike.

Keelung Miaokou Night Market is a must-see!
Keelung Miaokou is a snack market located in Renai District, Keelung City, Taiwan. It is centered on Dianji Temple on Rensan Road. It is one of the most famous night markets in Taiwan. There are shops open here 24 hours a day, and it is more lively during the night market, so it is also called Miaokou Night Market.

📍Miaokou Night Market
Among the night markets around Taipei, Keelung Miaokou Night Market is popular among Taiwanese gourmets for having the most delicious food!
Keelung is a port city just above Taipei, and it's easy to access from Taipei.
If you compare the relative locations of Japan, it's like Tokyo and Chiba.
There seem to be a lot of Japanese tourists, and there was exquisite Japanese writing everywhere🤣
My local Taiwanese friend recommended Yingyang Sanmeiji🥪
Literally translated, it's a nutrition sandwich.
It's a specialty of this night market.
It's called a sandwich, but it's more like a bread roll🌭
It's fried bread with boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, and ham in between, and it was simple but delicious🤤
If you go to Miaokou Night Market, you can't miss it.

Keelung has many must-buy souvenirs!
In addition to its delicious food, Keelung also offers many must-buy souvenirs. Here are two highly recommended stores where many locals line up to buy.
🌟 Lian Zhen Pastry Shop | TWD55
Everyone comes here to buy the Taro Balls 😍 A box of 4 costs 55 TWD. They are quite heavy, filled entirely with taro paste, and not too sweet. Note that they should not be kept at room temperature for too long, so consume them as soon as possible. Personally, I find them just okay 🙈
📍 Lian Zhen Pastry Shop
No. 42, Ai 2nd Road, Ren'ai District, Keelung City
🌟 Li Hu Pastry Shop | TWD45
A century-old shop in Keelung, known for its curry puffs, mung bean cakes, salted egg yolk pastries, and pineapple cakes. The traditional and simple packaging allows you to buy them individually. Many locals buy them by the box.
📍 Li Hu Pastry Shop
No. 90, Ren 3rd Road, Keelung City, Taiwan
Keelung is not only an important port city in Taiwan, but also a small paradise with hidden charm. In addition to the bustling Miaokou Night Market and charming natural scenery, Keelung also has many low-key but fascinating corners, suitable for travelers who want to get away from the hustle and bustle and pursue tranquility.
🚶♂️ Chaojing Park: a secret place away from the hustle and bustle
Unbeatable sea view: Chaojing Park is a famous sea-viewing spot in Keelung. The scenery of the sea and sky is refreshing. There are large lawns here, perfect for a picnic or just relaxing.
Diving Paradise: For those who love the underwater world, this is also a popular spot for snorkeling and diving, where you can appreciate the colorful marine life up close.
Tips: It is recommended to go there in the early morning or evening to enjoy the cooler and more comfortable temperature.
☕ Specialty Cafe: Enjoy the slow life in the harbor city
Keelung Coffee Secrets: Keelung has many specialty coffee shops hidden in the alleys, such as industrial-themed coffee shops that offer fragrant coffee and handmade desserts. Sitting by the window and looking at the sea view in the distance, time seems to be stretched.
Local surprises: Some cafes also combine local ingredients to launch limited desserts, such as sea salt brownies made with fresh ingredients from Keelung Fishing Port, which are worth a try!

Keelung, a seaport city in the north, developed very early, but in recent years shipping has declined somewhat, but the seaport city also brings a different style to Keelung.
If you drive, you can park in the East Bank parking lot, and you can actually walk to most of the scenic spots slowly.
You can first go to Keelung Coast Plaza to enjoy it, and there will be eagles circling.
Then walk to the train station. The newly built train station gives Keelung a different look. Walking up the back mountain, you can reach the Taiping Bluebird and Keelung landmarks that have become popular in recent years. (There is also a paid parking lot on the mountain here)
After going down the mountain, you can go to Keelung’s latest attraction, Keelung Tower, and finally go to Keelung Temple to eat delicious food~ Here’s your reference~

Keelung MiaoKou Night Market!
About a 1 hour drive out from Taipei you can find lots of fun activities and delicious foods in the Ren’ai district
Look at some beautiful lanterns in the same area where Miyazaki movies take place. Try some street foods while you are there.
I had some ice cream wrap that was super delicious, if you see it please try 😂

The most unique night market with yellow lanterns I encountered during my trip to Taipei.
Just a 30-minute metro ride from Taipei, you can experience a night market filled with a unique atmosphere of yellow lanterns.
📍Keelung Night Market
The main street of the night market is decorated with yellow lanterns, giving it a different vibe from any other night market in Taipei.
You can taste Keelung's unique snacks and shrimp wonton noodles, and enjoy seafood as it is a coastal town's night market.
Keelung also has unique travel spots like Heping Island Coastal Park and a sea swimming pool, making it worth a visit for a day!😀

The legendary night market at Keelung
Have always wanted to visit Keelung though I have been to Taipei a few times. Finally made our way there after our day trip to Shifen. This is a lively night market with numerous stalls of food and games to choose from. Although we were told they were famous for their seafood (since the port is nearby), we still went for our favourite - fried chicken and stinky tofu! It’s just one of those delicacies that couldn’t be replicated elsewhere in the world! #Taipei #Keelung #Miaokounightmarket #nightmarket

I must visit for everyone that is making a trip to Taipei.
This area is called Keelung City or 基隆 in Chinese. It is also nicknamed the rainy city. Keelung of one of Taiwan's largest port cities.
There is an abundance of shops (souvenirs) and places to eat during the day but what most people like to come to this area for is the night market where the food vendors serve up their speciality to everyone who comes for a taste. There is definitely no shortage of foods to try. Hope you have a big appetite. 😍
Is you're driving there there is a couple of large parking lots to choose from as street parking is very hard to find.
There's many streets to walk and browse which are full of cafés, antique stores and souvenir shops. Best to use GPS to get around to avoid getting lost.

Fall Temple Street Market Trip
Take TRA to Keelung Station, transfer Coastal Keelung Shuttle Bus T99 to Bisha Fishing Harbor stop, and take the ferry to Keelung Islet.
When my family and I booked a driver to bring us around Taipei, the driver brought us to the kee lung temple market. You can also take a TRA train to the keelung station. Keelung is near the pier hence the scenery is great. Keelung is famous for their snacks. I loved their shaved ice topped with sweet red bean combined with condensed milk. It is a great feeling, sitting under the hot sun weather, and enjoying the cold desert. Another worth trying is the crab meat soup which is 50 twd each bowl. You can chew onto some real crab meat. There were bubble tea stalls there too.
Do try the foods at Keelung temple night market to enjoy good food. Do come during the fall season as it would be better.
