Tainan City Museum - An exhibition that will help you better understand Tainan's history: DIY Tainan
#Exhibition #100 Ways to Travel
#Tainan City Museum , located in the #Yanping Junwang Temple park on Kaishan Road, has undergone several name changes, from the Taiwan Historical Archives, Tainan City History Museum, National Cultural Relics Museum to the Zheng Chenggong Cultural Relics Museum, until it was named Tainan City Museum at the end of last year. It is so low-key that even Tainan residents rarely visit it, and tourists only know about the Chimei Museum and the Tainan Art Museum.
Although the Tainan City Museum is small and beautiful, the building itself is very distinctive. It was designed by Professor He Chenci of the Department of Architecture at National Cheng Kung University. It combines modernist architectural features with Chinese classical architectural elements, combining modern simplicity with traditional simplicity. Its most representative features are mud window panes, red brick walls, and cypress window frames.
The first floor of the museum is a special exhibition, and the second floor is a regular exhibition #自造台南, which talks about the historical origins of Tainan and is divided into nine exhibition areas according to the timeline: Tainan DNA, Sea of Opportunities, Eastern Capital, City Structure, City of Prosperity, Flowing Crowds, Guarding the Palace and Gathering New, Southern Modernity, Building the Southern Capital Together, and Unfinished City: Compose a Song of Tainan Together.
The museum combines cultural relics exhibits with multimedia interactive technology to introduce Tainan's history in a simple and easy-to-understand way. Tickets are not expensive. For 50 yuan, you can visit both the special exhibition and the permanent exhibition, and appreciate this historic building that was completed in 1965.
The surrounding Kaishan Road and Fuqian Road are the first-tier battlegrounds for Tainan's snacks and delicacies. Visiting historical sites and cultural relics, exploring the alley culture, and tasting snacks and delicacies, aren't these the three indispensable elements of traveling in Tainan!
