Happy New Year January 1, 2023
This year is the first New Year since moving to Okinawa and the first New Year we have spent in Japan.
I wish you all a Happy New Year 🎆🎊
What will you do on January 1st during the Japanese New Year?
Last time I asked a friend in Japan, he said that during the New Year they have the custom of #三社参(三社参り), which means to visit three shrines during the New Year, and during the New Year the shrines are erected outside There are many different stalls, like a small market, with many eating and playing games ⛩😆 very lively. The opening hours of certain parts of the shrine during the New Year period have also been extended.
There are not many shrines in Okinawa, and they are smaller than the main island, but there are a few worth visiting. The most famous one is #Bosami Palace in Okinawa, but I heard there are so many people😂😂, so today we went to the shrine⛩️ near our home
#Futenma Shrine
We are coming to this shrine for the first time, if you drive you need to park in the parking lot near the shrine and get off and walk over for about 5 minutes or so, regular vehicle charge ¥200 days
From a distance already smell the smell of food from the stall outside the shrine, very fragrant 😋, opposite the shrine has been filled with a long queue of people 😳😳 Prepare to go inside to worship, together to come only to line up, fortunately It didn't take long in line, 20 minutes or so to get in there. Maybe the Divine Stone wasn’t too big so we didn’t dwell too long.
Entering the door first, of course, clean your hands, the door has a very advanced automatic hand washing water flow, and traditional bamboo pocket hand washing location.
Then walk up to prepare for five yen worship 🙏🏻, the process does not take 5 minutes😂 Of course, walking in not worship so simple, the main purpose is next to the guardian charm, drawing horse purchase. 🎏 During the New Year, there are more New Year special demon removal and charm decorations to purchase. Each one is beautiful 😍😍 It feels like buying a windmill during the Lunar New Year.
There is also a car guard stall stall outside the shrine, with more styles than usual 😆😆
Then we walked around the food stalls outside, there were food and there were game stalls all over the street. After buying food, you can sit at the temporary dining table behind the stall to eat🤤🤤 Great.
During the New Year, the shrine is open until 23:00 at night. If you are so suitable to visit during the New Year and have nothing to do at night, it is worth a visit😆
