The Kinugawa Onsen in Nikko City is a representative hot spring tourist attraction in northern Kanto, Japan. It is located along the upper reaches of the Kinugawa River, which flows through the central part of Tochigi Prefecture, along the valley between Mt. Ohinata and Mt. Sakyamuni. Township" reputation. Today, more than 80 hotels and inns are lined up along the Kinugawa River, mainly large modern hotels with open-air baths facing the valley.
When I first heard Chau Kwok Yin's song 'Kinugawa', I learned that it is a place in Japan. Taking advantage of a solo trip, I decided to include it in my itinerary.
Kinugawa was once a famous hot spring town, but during the economic bubble of the 1990s, the number of visitors to the hot springs sharply decreased, leading to the closure of many hot spring hotels and the abandonment of buildings.
Arriving in Kinugawa at night, I could feel its desolation. The streets were empty, the streetlights were dim, and the restaurants had closed early. Only the convenience store near the hot spring hotels was open. If you plan to stay overnight next time, I would recommend choosing a hotel that includes dinner, so you don't have to worry about where to eat.
The next morning presented a different scene, with beautiful and bright scenery. Although there were few tourists and many hot spring hotels had fallen into disrepair, the whole place gave me a very special feeling, with a mysterious and decadent beauty. Not far away, you can take a cable car to the observation deck for a panoramic view of Kinugawa.

Japanese Railways|First Experience of Tobu Railway Spacia X Sightseeing Train in Kinugawa Onsen
#train
The newest express train of 2023 is none other than the #Spacia X launched by #Tobu Railway Company, which departs from #Asakusa and reaches #Nikko and #Kinugawa Onsen. The design of Spacia X incorporates elements of the traditional Edo period and Nikko local culture, as well as various types of carriages with a strong sense of design. The simple white body of the exterior is combined with traditional craft elements. The luxurious carriage is like a hotel space and has six different types of seats. Each car has a different flavor.
Each train consists of six carriages, which provide standard seats, luxury seats, semi-private seats, private rooms, cabin suites and lounges. Of course, the ticket costs are more complicated. The seat fee of Spacia X is composed of basic fare + express fee + special seat fee. The most popular seats are the lounge in car 1 and the suite in car 6. What is more special is that the seats in the Cockpit Lounge in the lounge of car 1 are exclusively guaranteed to have priority use of the on-board cafe. For other cars 2 to 6, you can only register online using your mobile phone 30 minutes after departure. Each seat will have 10 minutes of use time, but because the journey is about 2 hours, not many people can buy coffee and snacks. It is actually quite tense to take this sightseeing train, and it seems that you have to grab it. The actual riding experience is very good. Even if you take a standard seat, you can feel the spirit of the new express train incorporating traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Nikko | 100 times less popular than Kyoto, it's a part of Japan you've never been to.
Nikko is located in the Kanto region, 👀 a city in the northern part of Tochigi Prefecture, about 2 hours' drive from Tokyo. 🤔 Many domestic friends may be unfamiliar with the name Nikko, but it is a popular place for viewing maple leaves among Tokyo locals, and it is no less popular than Kyoto~ At the same time, ✅ the hot springs here are as famous as Hakone and Atami, and it's so cool to take a bath while watching the red leaves~

You can go to Irohazaka and Kanto's top red leaf spot "Lake Chuzenji" to see the maple leaves in Nikko, 💥 as well as the "Ryuzu Falls" where the red leaves and waterfalls are in the same frame. Among them, Irohazaka, I have to say more❗️ It is one of the representative beautiful sceneries of Nikko and a slope road leading to Lake Chuzenji. Because there are 48 bends, the red leaf scenery here is more dangerous and beautiful! By the way~ 🙈 This is also one of the classic locations of the famous anime "Initial D".

Hot springs! In addition to Kinugawa Onsen! Nikko Yumoto Onsen is also worth choosing! This hot spring town is located in the deep mountains near Lake Yuno (Lake Yunoko). If you have time and are interested, you can walk to the nearby Yunohei Marsh, which is the source of the hot springs. There you can see a group of low wooden houses with equipment such as water pumps for extracting hot spring water.

#Free VIP room exchange on membership day on the 27th of every month
#tripcoins #Japan #Tochigi Prefecture #Tobu Nikko #Kinugawa Onsen
After purchasing the Tobu Nikko ticket with trip coins on trip.com, in addition to taking the non-express train to Nikko, you can also take the train to Kinugawa Onsen.
However, please note that there are fewer trains to Kinugawa Onsen in the evening (about once every hour). It is best to search for train schedules on Google Maps first, rather than searching at the station.
Kinugawa Onsen is a hot spring town near Nikko with a relatively low level of development. Due to the poor train transfer, it was already dark when we arrived and it was raining lightly, so it was extremely deserted. After walking for 15 minutes to the 24-hour suspension bridge, the Kinugawa River Valley was already pitch black. . .

The fastest and most economical guide from Tokyo to Nikko
Wall Crack recommends purchasing the “Tobu Pass NIKKO PASS” for both the tram and local buses to Nikko, which can be purchased at Tobu Asakusa Station or online.
