Built during the Meiji period, it is said to have been the site of the foundation of the rich merchant Kinokuniya Bunzaemonya in the Edo period. In 1878 (Meiji 11), Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of the Mitsubishi chaebol, purchased the abandoned park and rebuilt it. In 1880 (Meiji 13), the garden was renamed Fukagawa Kinmu Garden. In the park, Mount Fuji is used as the model to build a mountain, plus the pools, small islands, pavilions, lanterns of traditional Japanese gardens, and strange rocks and rocks collected from various places in Iwasaki.
