Eating pork ribs in a cave? Krčma Šatlava, a cellar restaurant in the town of CK
#2月好去地方2025
When you come to the Czech town of Český Krumlov, you can’t miss this famous cellar restaurant “Krčma Šatlava”! Luckily, we asked on the spot and found out there was room for dinner the next day, so of course we made a reservation immediately.
Walking into Krčma Šatlava is like stepping into a medieval European scene. The atmosphere of the brick-walled cave is very well created, with some antique ornaments and a retro fireplace. Dining under the dim, swaying light is really a special experience.
The cellar restaurant is famous for its pork knuckle ribs, which are large in portion, well-seasoned, tender and chewy. They are quite outstanding. The roasted pork neck (pine board) is also delicious. As for the traditional German bread soup, I really can't get used to it. The taste is too salty, and the bread becomes mushy after being soaked in the soup. I personally don't like it very much.
There are a lot of group guests in the whole restaurant. It seems that the Czech tour groups all choose to eat at this restaurant, so the business is very hot. Although the food is not amazing, it tastes pretty good, the atmosphere is good, and it is not expensive. You can definitely come and try it.
