This hidden gem in the northern part of the island exudes a charming Japanese allure, complete with a striking red torii gate and a peaceful waterfront setting. With Malaysia visible just across the sea, the view is both mesmerizing and serene, offering a quiet retreat from the city’s bustle. We always choose a table as close to the water as possible, letting the gentle sea breeze set the mood as we indulge in a delightful spread. The izakaya-style menu features an array of Japanese comfort food, and we enjoyed crispy fried chicken, warm and satisfying onigiri and okonomiyaki, as well as rich, velvety mentaiko cream crab served in its shell, all complemented by an ice-cold drink. Though the restaurant is reachable by public transport, it does require a bit of a walk from the nearest bus stop, so driving is the more convenient option. We had a wise array of menu to share from their sashimi, to yaki soba, Japanese pork katsu curry and more. We also tried their alcoholic drinks from highball and sweet sake.
