The heart of German industry—Duisburg.
🚂 The Ruhr area is the most developed traditional industrial area in Germany and is known as the heart of German industry. It is composed of a group of cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, including Cologne, Essen, Duisburg, Dortmund, and others. I spent the weekend immersing myself in the history of the Ruhr area, and as a science and engineering student, I was amazed by the energy of this industrial giant in Germany...
🏭️ Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park was originally the Meiderich Ironworks, which was built in 1902 and ceased production in the mid-1980s. The park retains the original appearance of the factory as much as possible, and visitors can reach the top of the factory building, more than 100 meters high, via stairs. Even decades later, one can still marvel at the magnificence of heavy industry, with the intricate pipelines and equipment arranged by the Germans with obsessive-compulsive disorder into a giant steel production machine. The various functional areas in the factory are also orderly arranged to provide a continuous supply of raw materials and power for production.
