Hong Kong|Lei Yue Mun Sam Ka Village + Quarry 🪨
Lei Yue Mun Sam Ka Tsuen:
It is a village located in Lei Yue Mun in the southeast of Kwun Tong District, Hong Kong. It has a history of 150 years and is one of the 13 villages in Kowloon. It is located near Yau Tong and Lei Yue Mun. In 1963, the government developed the Sam Ka Tsuen area. In 1975, Sam Ka Tsuen was demolished. Today, the area around Sam Ka Tsuen Playground is used as the Sam Ka Tsuen resettlement area.
Most of the residents here are very warm and friendly.😊
Lei Yue Mun Quarry:
The Lei Yue Mun Quarry has a history of more than 200 years. As early as before the development of local fisheries, it was collectively called the "Four Mountains" with Ngau Tau Kok, Sin Tsao Wan, and Cha Kwo Ling, and the quarry was developed separately. It was not used until 1967 and switched to seafood.
The quarry here is full of green grass, and many people come here to check in and take pictures.
On one side is the stone mine, on the other side is the sea, and in the distance you can see the Cross Bay Bridge in Tseung Kwan O. The scenery is first-class.
The Sam Ka Village and the stone quarry in Lei Yue Mun have a very rich historical story. If you are interested, you can also search for more detailed information online.
Walk along Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street, along the seaside, keep walking, walk through the mural village, walk through the handwritten stone quarry sign🪧, through the narrow alleys, follow the road under your feet all the way to the end, and you will reach the stone quarry.🪨
💚💚💚
In summer, there are many mosquitoes on the grass here. It is recommended to wear long pants or long skirts and bring mosquito repellent.
💚💚💚
It is actually a distance from Lei Yue Mun Seafood Street to the end of the stone quarry. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. Otherwise, you will be very tired after walking.🙈 (I just didn’t wear the right shoes. The shoes that are too elegant are very hard to walk.😂)
