The Kingdom of Dian used a variety of jade materials, with unique local features such as non-concentric jade rings, flanged bracelets (i.e., jade rings with collars), and copper buckles inlaid with jade pieces. The flanged bracelets and jade pieces with dragon patterns on the jade burial suits are evidence of cultural exchange between the Kingdom of Dian and the Central Plains.

Emperor Wu of Han and Lady Gouyi, as well as King Liu Fei of Jiangdu and Chunyu Ying'er, used belt hooks as tokens of their love, symbolizing "eternal remembrance." Rabbit-shaped gold belt hooks embodied the ancient belief in "seeking children." Rabbits represented "yin" and were believed to become pregnant by gazing at the moon.
