The Tianhou Temple (New Ancestral Temple) was built in the 53rd year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1788) and is now a county-level historical site in Changhua County. The Xinzu Temple is the only Mazu temple in Taiwan that was built by imperial decree of Emperor Qianlong with government funds.
