#traveldiaries This is a super nice hotel in Johor Bahru and it is inside a shopping center. We like it and also have book a few stay here. We prefer Austin area but the hotels there are not so new so we don’t mind the travelling time. We really like the rooms at Hyatt Place Johor Bahru and we always book 2 rooms for our stay. Each room has a sofa and it is large and comfortable to sleep there. There is no bathtub but it is ok for us since we prefer standing shower. The hotel is connected to the mall and there is a shortcut to the mall but this door is only open from 10am to 10pm.

Staff were friendly, informative and the breakfast provided was more than adequate for this brand. This was one hotel where I didn't have to adjust the AC and didn't perspire under a thick duvet cover. Environment friendly thought was everywhere from the wooden doorknob sign to the bathroom amenities. The TV was good with casting ability from your phone. Only thing that didn't work was the alarm clock but who uses that anyway? Definitely a hotel to recommend.

And most tourist have been hoping for the hotel to be completed. Finally in November 2024 it opened! Though we felt that the buffet spread wasn’t a lot and the seating area might be enough if the hotel is in full capacity. But for the price point, there is not complaining! #malaysia I was over at Sutera mall and decided to hop over to this beautiful cafe called Bawang Cha Ji in Johor Bahru. Which kinda blew my mind how pretty it is compared to typical cafes or stores in JB. It felt like I have step into another world. Almost like in Kyoto. Because it was a Monday the cafe was really quiet too. I would have brought my laptop along next time. While Chagee is still quite expensive in Malaysia, I think if it’s dining in at this cafe, I would gladly pay for the price and environment. Because this cafe is unlike those togo shops. (Cafe is outside the mall.)

They are open everyday from 11am until 10pm, Be sure to try their mille crepe cakes if not you can also order delivery too. It is also a florist shop, and they have cats roaming in the cafe. My favourite memories at this place is when the cats jump up behind my and land on my table and I managed to catch her. The interior of the cafe is so pleasing to the eyes and you can really feel the calmness sitting inside here. This cafe is on the same street as Hako Hotel at Skudai.

On first glance, you would ask yourself why would there be so much youngsters hanging around an old mall like Sutera mall, but you would also quickly realise that they are all heading outside. Right behind Sutera mall is the chill day night market, where you can find shops selling that are from across South east Asia like exotic meat, xxl fried chicken and coconut ice cream just to name a few

This place is located at Sutera at JB- Hock Kee Kopitiam Love the ambiance of this place! This place is so spacious, bright and clean. There are wide variety of food options as well, and I think the prices here are pretty reasonable! I’ve tried quite a bit and will list down what is the must try! 1) Fried mee Siam with Rendang- the fried mee Siam is the best dish out of all from this place! The fried bee hoon is nicely done, not too dry and it’s best to eat with the Sambal! Rendang is good as well, tasty. 2) The charcoal polo bun with kaya. This is nice as well, love the butter in between the bun and the kaya is served at the side, you can dip however much you want. 3) Portuguese egg tart. Can you see how thick is this egg tart? The filling is so smooth and creamy, not too sweet as well, the crust is very crispy. Can taste the layering of the crust. Oh and they also have a wide variety of vegetarian food as well. Bon appetite!

chanced upon this cheap hotel while we were targeting a one night stay near paradigm hotel (1+km away - grab rm5). we paid rm72 for a queen room with window just in case we need to see the weather to prepare what to go out. but the window also serves as a medium for noise to penetrate as our room is on level 1, not too far from the ground level. our neighbour was talking on the phone till 12plus midnight and smoke thereafter came into our room near the connecting door. however the service made it up for these shortcomings as they remembered we asked about the pasam malam last night and checked with us again upon checking out. hairdryer was also available for loan if necessary. #urbanexplorer #境外遊

We just wanted to go to legoland at first but found a lot of interesting places to go in Johor. It’s school holiday, and while the kids (and the parents) would surely enjoy their time at Legoland, we wanted something to enjoy at night as well. So we went to the Capyba Cafe at Skudai, to cuddle with cute capybaras and alpacas after a long day of playing. You only have to order 1 menu for each person, and they’ll give you a few carrot sticks to go upstairs to feed the animals. The special drink and pudding are so good and unique, the kids love it so much. To our surprise, they also let us feed the little pony, llamas and goat. The goat has towels wrapped on its horns so it won’t hurt people, and it’s so cute we had to ask for an extra feed for it! Other place to go with kids are the Midvalley Southkey Mall and Toppen Mall. They are close to each other and only 10-15 minutes from JB Sentral area. Midvalley has disney themed event going, and Toppen is another heaven for those who likes to play! We never thought we would enjoy Johor so much. We landed in Singapore and into Johor by bus, but if you are with kids, i’d suggest to take the KTM Tebrau train or rent a private car to avoid the hassle of standing in a long line with suitcases.#johor #legojb #capybaracafe #jb

#johorbahruguide Ke Ren Lai serves some satisfyingly good Hakka cuisine and this is the place I head to if I am traveling to Johor Bahru Malaysia. The food may not be fully traditional Hakka, but it is still delicious with a modern twist and value for money. To name a few of their famous dishes, their hakka abacus is really yummy and has a slight chewy bites with bits of meat and vegetables. Their spicy Mala garlic pork slice dish comes sizzling in a claypot and this is for the spice lovers - it is hot, flavourful and so addictive. If you want something comforting, the pigs stomach soup is excellent, with generous serving of meat in it. Prices here are reasonable and what matters most is that these Hakka dishes are well executed. It's a 10/10 for Ke Ren Lai, do try it!
