Luodong Town is located in Yilan County, with an area of only 11.344 square kilometers. Luodong Town is connected to Dongshan Township to the south, Lanyang River to the north, and Wujie Township and Sanxing Township to the east and west respectively. The Luodong area was a mountain forest area before it was developed, especially where there are many wild monkeys living in the forest. The place name "Luodong" originated from the fact that Taiwanese ethnic groups called monkeys "Laotong", and the Han people in the later Qing Dynasty reclaimed the Lanyang Plain, so they continued to use its name and called this place "Luodong".

Hidden in Luodong Night Market
Next to Garage Clothing (Yilan people will know it!!)
The large windows at the door are easy to spot
A Korean coffee shop that is also super photogenic
I made a quick appointment with my sister for afternoon tea after dinner
Ordered
The ice coffee is very special, the overall taste is quite good but a little sweet
The latte is not bad
Caramel pudding is highly recommended👍🏻 The pudding is paired with slightly bitter caramel, which is very refreshing and not too sweet

Touring trip in Taiwan: Destination: Yilan Luodong!
We left Taipei around 2pm and toured along the coastal highway to Yilan!
The first day's destination was Luodong, where our accommodation was.
After taking breaks and sightseeing, we finally arrived at our accommodation around 7pm.
🏨Accommodation: Miqi Travel - Luodong Branch
💞Recommended: 10 minutes walk to #Luodong Night Market, good value for money
After checking in, we walked to Luodong Night Market.
Luodong is famous for its green onions, #SanxingOnions, so we ate skewers of meat wrapped in green onions!
Recommended for green onion lovers. We recommend eating them as soon as you receive them while they're still hot.
📍Location: Sanxing Onion Skewers
No. 102-108, Minquan Rd, Luodong Township, Yilan County, 265
💰Price: 40 NTD per skewer, 110 NTD for 3 skewers (cash only) *As of 2025.02.20
After that, I ate lamb soup nearby.
It was very local and the tone and attitude of the ladies was so harsh that it was surprising for Japanese people in Taiwan💦
When there were a lot of people, you had to share a table, and it was dirty, so I wonder if there was no concept of hygiene. .
But the soup was delicious.
📍Location: Azhao Po Dang Gui Lamb Soup
265, Yilan County, Luodong Township
💰Price: 85 RMB (cash only) *As of 2025.02.20
Finally, I bought an Aiyu Lemon at the drink stand in front of the lamb soup restaurant and went back to the inn.
The next day, I went to #ZhangAmeiAyanFarm and #QingShuiGeothermalValley.
I plan to write about it in the next Moo.

Yilan: A Guide to Slow Living
🌿 Yilan: A Guide to Slow Living 🌿
—— Happiness between the mountains and the sea. Soaking in hot springs, watching the sea, and eating at night markets are the most important things.
🚗 Transportation Guide
By air:
Taipei → Yilan: 1 hour by train (approx. TWD 110), or take the Guoguang Bus (1.5 hours)

Getting around:
🚌 By bus: Use an EasyCard to take the bus. The main attractions are covered by the red and green sightseeing bus lines.

🌟 Must-Do Activities
① For the artsy
Jimmy Park: Enter the world of picture books and take a photo with the flying bus from "Starry Starry Night" (go at 8 am to avoid the crowds)
Lanyang Museum: A must-see for architecture lovers! The triangular volcanic rock building on the wetland is breathtakingly beautiful with its changing light and shadow.
Luodong Cultural Working House: A skywalk in the steel forest. Watch the sunset over the silhouette of Turtle Island.
② For nature lovers
Turtle Island: Open from March to November! Snorkel in the Milk Sea and watch whales and dolphins from 401 Highland.
Jiaoxi Hot Spring Street: Free foot baths. We recommend the "Forest Bath" where you can wear a swimsuit and soak in the wild hot springs.
Taipingshan National Forest: Take a train through the cypress forest. At sunrise, Cuifeng Lake looks like a spilled palette.
③ Night market food
Luodong Night Market: Sanxing green onion rolls, Wei Jie stuffed tapioca balls, and A Zao Bo mutton soup. The longer the line, the better the food.
Dongmen Night Market: A local favorite! Dragon and Phoenix Legs, Yichuanxin, and Gaosha (cold on the outside, hot on the inside).
🍜 Food Map
Breakfast:
Beimen Garlic Pork Soup: The garlic flavor is strong. Add chili sauce for a secret flavor.
Zhengchang Fresh Meat Soup Dumplings: Thin skin and juicy filling. 10 dumplings for TWD 90.
Coffee:
Black House Coffee: A black container house in the rice fields. Crispy latte with tiramisu.
Kiln Baked Mountain Village: Bread bigger than your face. The red giant is a great photo prop.
📅 Itinerary
2 days, 1 night:
Day 1: Jimmy Park → Lanyang Museum → Jiaoxi Hot Springs → Luodong Night Market
Day 2: Dongshan River cycling → Turtle Island half-day tour (or Taipingshan for phytoncides)
3 days, 2 nights: Add a visit to the National Center for Traditional Arts to see puppet shows, eat taro ice cream on Toucheng Old Street, and make green onion pancakes at Sanxing Green Onion Farm.
⚡ Tips
Weather: Hot springs in winter, surfing in summer. Be careful of typhoons from June to September.
Cash is king: Night markets and stalls only accept cash. Bring some change.
Transportation: Attractions are crowded on holidays. Take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle instead of driving.
Souvenirs: Nobel Milk Pudding Roll and Yishunxuan Longan Cake are available at the airport.
The ultimate secret of Yilan: Time flows as slowly as the Dongshan River. It's a great place to soak your soul in the hot springs and relax. 🍵

And that night, we have a night market to recommend, which is Luadong night market.
Luadong night market is the most famous night market in Yilan. It is a source of food, desserts, and fashion clothes. It is also a place where teenagers come to walk around in large numbers.
That night, we tried many things, whether it was sweet or savory, and were very impressed. The food looked delicious and the taste was delicious. There were a lot of people queuing up from locals who started to guarantee the deliciousness. It is also easy to travel near Taipei. Taking the TRA train is also convenient.

biggest night market in Luodong, Taiwan
#taipei
Luodong night market is one of the largest night market in Yilan, Taiwan which has one of most variety of food stalls here.
It can get extremely crowded due to the popularity of the night market itself.
Some of the best snacks or food we have eaten here (thanks to the Taiwanese recommendations) are the Luodong Potato Ball (地瓜球), scallion pancake, donuts and even more! We didn’t manage to try most of the food here due to the long queues sadly..
Address: 265, Taiwan, Yilan County, Luodong Township, Xingdong Rd, 與民權路口
Do take note that some of the stalls do not open on Wednesday according to the locals here.
