Wenzhou has a hidden gem of an island, just a 20-minute boat ride away!
In Wenzhou, there's a place that feels like a paradise—Luxi Island. Quiet and charming, it's hidden deep in the sea, waiting for people to uncover its mysteries.
From the pier, it's just a short 20-minute boat ride to this captivating blue sea. As the boat sails, waves roll and the sea breeze caresses your face, creating a sense of ease. What's more, all the attractions on this island are free, there are few tourists, and the prices are affordable, making it a cost-effective travel destination.
1. Getting to the Island
Dasha'ao Pier - Luxi Island
There are 6 daily departures, taking only 20 minutes to reach the island. Tickets cost CNY 20, and child tickets are only CNY 10.
Yanzishan Ferry Terminal - Luxi Island
There are 3 boats per day, with a 40-minute journey. Tickets are CNY 30, and child tickets are CNY 15.
Online ticket purchases can be made through "Dongtou Inter-island Ferry." If you need a car ferry, you'll have to buy tickets on-site. CNY 100 includes the driver's ticket, and motorcycles can also be transported.
2. Getting Around the Island
Sightseeing Bus
The price is very reasonable, with a round-the-island tour costing only CNY 5. You can also get off at designated stops. It's recommended to keep the driver's phone number so you can easily call for a pick-up and explore the island with ease.
Chartered Car Service
For a more flexible and comfortable touring experience, chartering a car is a good option. A large car can accommodate 18 people and costs CNY 240; a small car can seat 4 people and costs CNY 130. The driver will take you to all the island's attractions.
3. Must-See Attractions
Wuren'ao
Here, you'll find a beautiful pebble beach with crystal-clear water. After getting off the bus and walking inwards, you'll first encounter a quiet forest path, then a wooden boardwalk. If you follow the right path, you'll reach the beach in 10 minutes. Here, time seems to slow down.
Daotan Rock Geological Park
Facing Wuren'ao across the sea, it's less than a 20-minute walk away. The huge reddish-brown rocks by the sea are magnificent and awe-inspiring, though it's hard to fully capture their grandeur with a camera. The rock pools are teeming with small crabs, adding to the fun of exploration.
Bailongyu Island
Sea cliffs, a lighthouse, and a viewing platform create a unique landscape here. Although we didn't explore the entire island, the scenery along the way was already mesmerizing.
Shanping Viewing Platform
You need to climb up wooden steps to reach this platform, where you can overlook the stunning scenery of Luxi Island. Camping here at dawn to watch the sunrise would be an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, we arrived too late and it was getting dark, so we missed its most breathtaking moment.
Qilu Bay Beach
This is a man-made beach. The sand isn't particularly clean, but there are free children's play facilities, making it a great place to bring kids to collect shells, catch crabs, and enjoy some family time.
4. Food and Accommodation
There's a street with guesthouses and restaurants on the island, offering affordable prices but relatively basic environments. If you have enough time, you can also choose not to stay on the island, as day trips are convenient. Some guesthouses offer three meals a day, with delicious and generous portions of seafood that will satisfy your appetite.
Luxi Island, this niche and charming island, is waiting for more people to discover its beauty.
