Lychee park is a stunning green space located in downtown Louhu, Shenzhen. The park is an oasis of calm surrounded by the ever growing city, it is framed nicely by the KK100, the second tallest building in Shenzhen. The park is built up around a big lake and features plenty of walkways and seating, its a hot spot for jogging in the early mornings and families during the evenings and weekends. Over summer there are peddalos for hire on the lake along with food vendors selling snacks. The park is within walking distance of Hongling station or Grand theater station, the mall at grand theater has plenty of food options to take to the park and have a picnic. At the lower right hand corner of the park is a big display tribute to Deng Xiaoping who is known as the founding father of Shenzhen, he opened up the city to a free trade zone that has catapulted to the size that it is now. Lychee park is one of the oldest parks in Shenzhen, and also one of my favorites. Located in a central part of Luohu, this is an easy park to get to be metro. With multiple gates and entrance points, you can start and end this in many places. As with most larger parks in the city, there is a large body of water that is the central point of the park. You can take ‘duck shaped’ boats out for a boat ride, or watch the locals do their work on small fishing boats. There are large areas of greenery, where you can rest, have a picnic or play sports/games, or just put a hammock up between 2 trees and take a nap. Towards the back of this park there is a much older feel to it, more like a local community park that was extended onto the main Lychee Park There is lots of striking local architecture in the background of this park, namely the KK100 and the Diwang Building, both iconic and unmistakable. They are blooming in late spring. What’s neat is that all the trees leaves will fall before the flower blooming. Then, the surprise of seed pods follows the flowering. Birds and insects like to drink the sweet nectar inside. Bird watchers would catch stunning photos of small birds flying among the giant red flowers. Best time to see the trees is morning when the flowers are fresh. Sit beneath and catch a few flower heads fall and twirl to the ground below. Shenzhen is a city with numerous parks and abundant greenery. We traveled in mid-March when the weather was pleasantly cool, around 14-20 degrees Celsius. The metro is affordable and can take you anywhere in the city. We stayed at Home Inn Dongmen President Street, which offered good rates and included breakfast. It is close to the metro and shops, and within walking distance to the Dongmen pedestrian street, which is bustling with shops. For food lovers, this place is a paradise, especially for fresh and delicious seafood. For those interested in spiritual activities, a visit to the Guan Yu Temple is a must. It's easily accessible and close to the metro. From Dongmen, it costs only 6 yuan to get to Nantou Station, and from there, it's just a 5-minute walk. The temple is easy to find, and you can spend the whole day exploring the area. On our last day, we visited the Shenzhen Museum, which is free to enter and quite large. It also has a garden for relaxation. Overall, it was a relaxing trip filled with good food, temple visits, shopping, and leisure. We booked our tickets with Trip and got a round trip for 4,000 baht per person, flying with AirAsia. It was very worth it. 📌📌 If you have more time, I recommend visiting Hong Kong. It's just a short high-speed train ride away! ❤️
