[The oldest geological park ~ Ma Shi Chau💩]
There are probably a dozen geoparks in Hong Kong, but I don't know how many you have been to😚? Today I will introduce you to one of the oldest geoparks in Hong Kong, and the easiest to get to, it is located in Ma Shi Chau in San Mun Tsai, Tai Po🤗
Suggested tour route👇
San Mun Tsai --> Tai Po Geological Education Centre --> Lian Island Sha Chau --> Ma Shi Chau Nature Education Trail --> Turn back along the road
So what's so special about Ma Shi Chau😚?
Angel Road😇
Did you think that the Hong Kong version of Angel Road😇 only has one in Sai Kung Bridge Island? In fact, there are two other ga😌, namely Cheung So Island located in Tsim Sha Tsui and Ma Shi Chau, which I want to introduce this time🤗. Ma Shi Chau is connected by a Lien Island sandbar and the salt fields of San Mun Tsai. I heard that this Lien Island sandbar used to disappear due to the rising tide, but since the artificial pile of large rocks in the Lien Island Sands is no longer this problem😯
The oldest rock🪨
What else to do in Ma Shi Chau besides walking the angel road 😇? The answer is to see the rocks 🪨😜! Although the reputation of Ma Shi Chau is far less than the hexagonal column stone of Sai Kung and the sedimentary rock of Tung Ping Chau, it turns out that the rocks of Ma Shi Chau are likely to be the oldest rock in Hong Kong 😯, with a history of nearly 300 million years ga la😆, is the Permian era that even dinosaurs did not appear. Among the many strange rocks in Ma Shi Chau, my favorite photo spot📸 is the colorful mud rock, which is my favorite pink 😍
Tai Po Geological Education Centre📖
You can come to the Geological Education Center to learn about the history of Ma Shi Chau and other geoparks before leaving for Lien Island Sha Chau, take pictures of each check point location of Ma Shi Chau 📌, and finally you can get a geopark passport with the staff
Entry-level hiking route 🚶♀️
This route is definitely one of the super high value for money route👍, one route sees all the Angel Road😇, strange rocks🪨, and you can overlook Baxianling⛰️, Tai Tuk and Ma On Shan, the scenery along the road is super open🤩, and most importantly, the whole round trip is only two hours, the highest point is 53 meters, perfect for hiking beginners who want to see beautiful scenery😉
Transportation: You can start this journey by taking the 20K minibus/74K KMB bus 🚌 from Tai Po Market Station directly to San Mun Tsai Terminal
