Come to Madou Gongshang Temple to travel through heaven and hell and experience the charm of faith in Madou Daitianfu
In Madou, Tainan, there is a temple that combines faith and recreational features - Madou Daitianfu (commonly known as the "Five Kings Temple"). The main deity is the Five Kings Thousand Years Old. Since the Qing Dynasty, it has been prosperous for exorcism and hunting tours. It is the Five Kings Origin Temple in southern Taiwan, second only to Nankunshen. After reconstruction in 1956, it integrates traditional Quanzhou architecture and fun interactive elements, becoming a cultural landmark that combines parent-child travel and faith tourism.
🏛️ Magnificent Quanzhou Architecture × Carved Beams and Glazed Tile Crafts
Daitianfu covers an area of more than three acres and is divided into the front, middle and back halls and the Guanyin Hall. The overall model is based on Quanzhou Minnan architecture. The beams, columns and roofs are intricately carved and gorgeous. The door gods in the main hall are carved with thick camphor wood in three dimensions, which are lifelike and extraordinary.
🌈 Five-color dragon × Adventure in heaven and hell
The mini five-color dragon (76 meters long and 7 meters high) built in 1979 allows visitors to enter through the dragon's mouth and explore the ten scenes of heaven (such as the pilgrimage of the gods and the fairy dance) and the eighteen levels of hell. The mechanical puppets and sound effects reproduce the punishment of the ten kings of hell step by step, which is entertaining and educational, and warns people to "do good and avoid evil".
🎠 Parent-child amusement area × Special experience
After the "heaven and hell" is over, there is a roller slide and a large sand pit next to the exit, which has become the most anticipated interactive area for children and families. Many travel notes even call Daitianfu "a must-visit attraction for parents and children in Tainan".
🕯️ Five thousand-year-old kings × Touring to ensure safety
The five thousand-year-old kings are Li, Chi, Wu, Zhu, and Fan, symbolizing different blessing functions: choosing auspicious days, national defense, feng shui, fortune-telling, and medical treatment, and each has believers to worship. Madou Daitianfu is also known as the Five Kings Temple. The "Madou Incense" incense-cutting ceremony in the Nanying region is held every three years, bringing together local formation culture.
