Singapore's Changi Airport brings the tropical rainforest into the terminal; similarly, in Spain, there is Atocha, which brings a botanical garden into the station hall. This spectacle is truly breathtaking. Madrid's Atocha Station has a history of over a hundred years and has been rated as one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. It is the main station connecting Madrid with other areas, with trains and subways converging here, resulting in a significant flow of people. Atocha is composed of two stations, new and old. The new station is used for boarding, while the old station serves as a shopping mall and a tropical garden, housing over 400 species and 7,000 plants. It is lush and green, resembling a large greenhouse, and is incredibly soothing! Atocha's design is very unique, with a high vaulted main hall that is highly recognizable. The exterior features exquisite carvings, exuding an ancient Athenian vibe. The glass skylight at the top allows sunlight to pour into the platform and hall, making travelers feel warm and comfortable.

I'm travelling around Spain by train (one of the best ways to) and I'd heard a lot about the beautiful Madrid Atocha Railway Station (Estación Madrid de Atocha). In person, it really is breathtaking! One of the most beautiful train stations I've ever been in. Atocha is the largest station in Spain that serves the most kinds of trains: commuter, intercity, regional, and the AVE high speed. What's iconic and unusual is that the atmosphere, architecture, and decoration in the old plaza (see pictures) don't make the place feel like a train station! It is also very cooling, thanks to the amount of greenery and plants in the plaza. If you're not departing/arriving here, I still recommend visiting the Atocha station when in Madrid! There is also lots of history to this station: the current building was built in 1892, and even houses a memorial outside for the victims of the 2004 Madrid train bombings. This is the perfect place for lovers of history, architecture, plants, and trains! So beautiful and iconic. It is located at Pl. del Emperador Carlos V, 28045 Madrid. It is the main station in Madrid- the capital's first train station was inaugurated in 1851. The train platforms were partly covered by a roof in the form of an inverted hull with a height of approximately 27 meters and a length of 157 meters, The steel and glass roof spreads between two brick flanking buildings. A modern terminal was built in adjacent land to serve both the new high speed trains, regional and local commuter lines. The station is served by two metro lines, Estacion del Arte and Atocha, where the latter is directly linked to the railway station. Madrid Atocha station is the largest and busiest station, that provides both domestic and international connections linking the capital of Spain to the other countries and towns. It is also centrally located to nearby tourist attractions.
