A must-stay hotel in Shenzhen!!!
Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen Review: An Experience of Luxury and Distinction
I spent an unforgettable night at the Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen over the weekend for my birthday, thanks to the invitation of a good friend. As a fan who has experienced four Mandarin Oriental (MO) hotels, this trip to Shenzhen brought me many new impressions.
💰️Cost per person
The hotel price is 3,000+ per night. Considering the hardware facilities, service experience, and brand positioning, although it is not exactly value for money, it matches its luxury hotel status. For those pursuing a high-quality accommodation experience and with a sufficient budget, it's worth a try.
🏘️️️Room Type/Layout
The overall space of the room is spacious, and although it is divided into multiple areas, the layout is reasonable. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the basic rooms are impressive, offering extremely wide views. There are also panoramic rooms available, allowing you to take in the magnificent cityscape of Shenzhen. However, each subdivided space is relatively compact, such as the average size of the bathtub in standard rooms. The cloakroom is surprisingly large, which is a big plus, very suitable for those who like ample storage space.
🛌Amenities/Facilities
The room is equipped with a comprehensive central control system and BOSE speakers. The mini bar and small refrigerator are stocked with New Zealand bottled mineral water, showing great style. The bathroom fixtures are Kohler, and the hairdryer is Dyson, all standard in luxury hotels. The gym is large and well-equipped, with Smith machines, bench presses, cable machines, and other equipment, placing it at the forefront of the industry. The swimming pool is also unique, not only with a surprisingly high ceiling but also with unique star pendants and even a fireplace, a rare design. However, the minibar is not free, which seems less generous compared to its competitor, Raffles. The toiletries don't have any particularly outstanding highlights.
🧹Soundproofing/Hygiene
The soundproofing is excellent, with almost no outside noise in the room, ensuring a quiet resting environment. The bedding is comfortable and clean, meeting high standards, and the overall hygiene is satisfactory.
💗Other tips
1. Hotel Features and Service: The most distinctive feature of Mandarin Oriental hotels is that each one has its own exclusive fan. The Shenzhen fan is particularly beautiful, but unfortunately, it has been out of stock for several months. When inquiring at the pastry shop on the first floor, the staff did not proactively register guest information for follow-up contact, which is not quite in line with MO's reputation for exceptional service. The lobby on the 78th floor has a very high ceiling, and the decorations and ornaments are very stylish. The greeters and front desk staff are both attractive and provide excellent service, and their attire is elegant and comfortable, making you feel at home. Their software service has always been at the top of the industry. Because of my birthday, the room had simple decorations and a handwritten birthday card. Although the cake tasted mediocre, the gesture was heartwarming.
2. Dining Experience: The breakfast has a wide variety and guaranteed quality, but the several areas are far apart, making it inconvenient to pick up food.
3. Hotel Design: The first-floor atrium and main entrance are relatively ordinary, but once inside, you'll be attracted by the shimmering doorstops and electronic screens. This sparkling effect is different from MO's usual grand and elegant decoration style, perhaps an attempt at rejuvenation.
