All over Japan, there are dozens of "Souzu Rocks", which are famous for Mie Prefecture. The two reefs, one large and one small, are connected by a thick straw rope at sea, which is a symbol of a good marriage and safety in the home. The two reefs are 660 meters away from the shore, the male rock is 9 meters high and the female rock is 4 meters high. The two rocks follow each other like a married couple, so they are called "Couple Rocks". The straw rope that connects them is called "note linking rope" and is replaced three times a year. From May to July, you can watch the sunrise from between the couple rocks. Especially around the summer solstice, if the weather is good, you can see Mount Fuji in the background, and many tourists come here to take pictures and visit. On May 5th, September 5th, and Saturdays and Sundays in mid-December every year, a memorial ceremony for the replacement of the "Note-Linked Rope" is held. In addition, from November to January, the full moon can be seen between the two rocks.
