Located in Singapore's Marina Bay, the Merlion is one of Singapore's most iconic landmarks. Designed by Singaporean Chinese artist Lin Langxin, this sculpture is not only a tourist icon, but also a symbol of Singapore's culture and history. The Merlion statue is 8.6 meters tall and weighs 70 tons. Its unique lion head and fish body design is rich in meaning: the lion head symbolizes Singapore's nickname "Lion City", while the fish tail represents Singapore's origins as a fishing village. The water jets from the statue's mouth have become a popular background for tourists to take photos, especially against the backdrop of sunrise and night lights. The Merlion is located in the heart of Marina Bay and is easily accessible. Visitors can walk about 10 minutes from Raffles Place MRT Station. It is recommended to visit in the early morning or evening to avoid the high temperatures at noon and appreciate the beauty of the Merlion in different light.
