[2025 Macau Stay] Travel Guide for MGM Macau (Updated Mar)

Starting at 8 AM from Gongbei Port to Macau First Stop: Check-in at the Ruins of St. Paul's, below is Souvenir Street, and next to it is Love Lane. Stroll around and eat here until noon. Second Stop: Check-in at Grand Lisboa on Dongyang Street. Be careful not to obstruct traffic, or you may be fined. Third Stop: Go to Wynn to watch the Tree of Prosperity show. Fourth Stop: Go to MGM to get free milk tea and egg tarts (free because someone has already paid). Fifth Stop: Head to Wynn Palace, where there are free cable cars and fountains at the entrance. You can experience or take photos. Sixth Stop: Go to Rua do Cunha, a famous snack street in Macau. Seventh Stop: Walk one kilometer to The Venetian. Ordered pork chop bun / chicken coconut milk noodles / curry beef tendon rice, each dish was absolutely delicious and portions were generous. 🏨 Accommodation: Jinjiang Inn Macau Border Gate Hotel (Very close to Gongbei Port and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port, the environment and facilities are very new, high cost performance) ✅ Compared to the glitz and glamour of Taipa Island, Macau Peninsula has a more rustic and down-to-earth vibe, and the lifestyle is very similar to the mainland. The local residents we met, such as the aunties in the shops and the grandpas we met at the bus stops, were all very friendly and tried their best to communicate in Mandarin. There is no sense of exclusion at all. I really love the local customs and culture of Macau.

When we got there around ten o'clock, there were fewer people heading to The Venetian, so we went there first. 2️⃣ We spent about an hour at The Venetian and then followed the navigation to walk for a few minutes to The Londoner and The Parisian, which are all very close to each other. 3️⃣ After checking these places off our list, I followed the guide and walked for about fifteen minutes from The Londoner to Rua do Cunha for lunch. 4️⃣ After a satisfying meal, we walked for about twenty minutes to Wynn Palace. Wynn Palace offers a free cable car ride at four in the afternoon, but we arrived early and didn't have time to wait as we were rushing to the next spot. 5️⃣ Then we went from Wynn Palace to MGM, where there is free afternoon tea inside. A family went on a trip to Zhuhai, mainly to take the kids to Chimelong in Zhuhai, and incidentally to take the elderly father to check in more cities. The strategy was made because Macau is very close, so they took a day to cross the border at Hengqin and completed the Macau city walk. Who is Macau suitable for? To put it simply: people who are willing to spend money. Macau is not big, and just a city walk for checking in and taking photos can be completed in 1-2 days. Compared to Hong Kong, I think it is more orderly, lively but not chaotic, prosperous, but also well-planned. If you are a budget traveler like me, then in Macau you can spend a whole day without spending a penny. The airport, ports, and Macau Tower have free shuttle buses from various major hotels, no credentials needed, just get on the bus. There is usually a bus every 15-20 minutes. Grand Lisboa, Wynn Macau (Wynn Palace), and MGM (Lion MGM) on the Macau Peninsula and Taipa offer free shuttle services, and then the major hotels are not far from each other, basically within walking distance, and close to the main attractions. All entertainment venues offer free snacks and drinks, as long as you are of age, you can come and go freely, and fill your stomach without spending a penny. Since you can play for a whole day without spending a penny, why do I still say Macau is suitable for people who are willing to spend money? Firstly, Macau is very small, the Ruins of St. Paul's, the Monte Fort, museums, and wandering through the streets, a standard city walk can be completed in 2-3 hours. Secondly, if you look at everyone's check-in photos, they are basically at the Ruins of St. Paul's, Grand Lisboa Hotel, and various major hotels. So, apart from the standard city walk, another theme of check-ins in Macau is the hotels. The hotels have free performances every hour, but these performances are really just for the sake of it, and not worth buying a plane ticket for a special trip. The cable car, the tower, and various hotel scenes are also very nice, but again not worth a special trip just for a check-in, though they are a good choice if you're passing by. The free snacks and drinks are very considerate, and some taste quite good, but they are more suitable for sitting down for afternoon tea to enjoy the hotel scenery after a tiring walk. As for the main meals, relying on these freebies can be too much and too sweet. If you come to Macau and don't go to casinos or buy luxury goods, and taking trendy photos for check-ins is not your main theme, then half the fun of Macau will be lost. In summary, Macau is great, but whether it is suitable for a few days of play still depends on where your interests lie.

The Four Seasons, Venetian, Parisian, and Londoner hotels all have corridors that interconnect, pay attention to the signs or ask the staff. 4. There's no need to queue at very popular shops; there are many authentic snack shops, make sure to leave time to go where you want. 5. For accommodation, it's recommended to stay near a major location. I was going to HK later, so I stayed near the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal. There are free shuttle bus stops at various hotels that you can take. On the last night, I took the shuttle bus from Galaxy to the ferry terminal and walked 5 minutes to the hotel. Great food, shopping, and sightseeing, will come again!!

Located within the MGM building, right next to the MGM Casino, the museum offers free tickets at the entrance despite being fully booked online, allowing visitors to enter as they arrive. The exhibition's theme revolves around the cultural exchange and connections along the Maritime Silk Road, featuring fifteen national first-class cultural relics. Among these are the famous Yuanmingyuan animal heads of the ox, tiger, monkey, and pig, along with exquisite shipwreck ceramics and gold and silver artifacts. Guided tours are available in Cantonese and Mandarin, though the Mandarin commentary is somewhat less fluent. Overall, it's highly recommended! The dome at the entrance symbolizes 'under the dome, all is the sea of stars.' Upon entry, a massive screen plays a stunning one-minute video, each frame worthy of being a gilded postcard. The 'Monsoon' section explores the understanding of ocean currents and navigation by Eastern and Western peoples. The 'Cultural Context' section showcases artifacts from various shipwreck sites, including beautiful export ceramics. The 'Fusion' section is the highlight, featuring silver teapots, gilded incense pouches, and coins illustrating the mutual influence of Eastern and Western cultures, with the Yuanmingyuan animal heads being particularly striking. The final 'Connection' section displays contemporary artworks. Don't forget to look up and down: the columns feature cloisonné enamel brackets, and the floor is inlaid with totems from 12 countries along the Silk Road, showcasing exquisite attention to detail. This is the most opulent museum I've ever seen, resembling a luxury hotel with no unpleasant odors, a pleasant fragrance, a black and gold color scheme that's not gloomy, spacious yet not empty, and large screens everywhere displaying high-quality content with impressive special effects. Most importantly, the glass doesn't reflect at all, allowing for perfect photos of the animal heads (a stark contrast to the National Museum). However, if you visit during peak times like we did, with time restrictions, focus on taking individual photos of the heads first.
