The ancient city of Mingon is located on the right bank of the Irrawaddy River. It is a very interesting place upstream. The once prosperous is no longer, and now it looks more like an inconspicuous small village. When the dust is flying, it reminds people of the former glory and prosperity. Mingon has a majestic stupa, the Mingon Stupa, an unfinished palace built by King Mengyun of Myanmar for his queen, and one of the largest brick buildings in the world. Due to the huge project, it took 11 years when King Meng Yun died, but only 1/3 of the entire building was completed. In 1838, the giant tower collapsed in an earthquake, and now people are left with a huge tower base. Not far to the north of the foundation of the stupa, there is the world's largest bell still in use, the Mingong Bell. It is 8 meters high, 5 meters in diameter, and weighs 90.55 tons. This is the largest uncracked clock in the world. Going 200 meters further north, you will see the white Hinbi Mai Pagoda with wavy steps, which looks like a big cream cake.

Mesmerizing Mingun Pahtodawgyi temple
#temples
It is an enormous one of the largest unfinished pagoda located in Mingun, Myanmar. This is one of the famous temple in Myanmar. It is 10 kilometers away from Mandalay. This pagoda is also one of the must visit temple during your trip in Mandalay.
As this is a Buddhist temple, you can actually enter and go inside to a prayer room. The local people around will offer you to buy their flower and you could use it for prayer. Besides, they are also nice and warm people. I love local people whenever I go to any Myanmar's places.
In order on how to get there, I suggest you to hire a tricycle driver and ride you to some places including this temple. This will possibly the best option exploring Mandalay. You could also ask the driver to ride you to any must-visit temple. Save energy and time, so it is a win-win.
Even though this is unfinished temple, it is still look beautiful and the architecture was so magical.

Massive Pagoda in Mingun
📍Mingun Pahtodawgyi or Mingun Pagoda
The Pahtodawgyi Pagoda is located in Mingun, a tiny town not far away from Mandalay. This massive Pagoda is incredible but unfortunately it’s unfinished. It was meant to be the biggest Pagoda in Myanmar. Despite of this, it’s totally recommended to visit the ruins.

Ancient Temple in Sagaing Myanmar 🇲🇲
#newyearnewtrip #myanmar
The photos were taken by local kids, they help you take photos patiently for a small amount of pocket money. I went with my family so I didn’t need a photographer but I love to help out the local children in Myanmar wherever I go.
The hat that I wore was also weaved by the local aunties in the area! The price is insanely cheap for the quality and the labor.
I definitely recommend visiting when it gets safer to travel in Myanmar!

Visiting one of the largest bells in existence and this white pagoda
#newyearnewtrip #myanmar
Before recommending this place, if you ever plan to actually visit - please make sure to check if the area is safe to visit as Myanmar is currently unstable.
This place is a popular tourist attraction in the Sagaing Division. There are local children there that will take pictures for you and tell you the history of the place. Also, there is also a renowned large bell nearby this location.

Mingong ac
Mingong actually faces Mandalay across the river, but because the river needs to detour the bridge, it is far away. You can also choose to take a direct ferry at Mandalay Marina without the hassle of travelling. But there is less scenery and fun along the way. The ancient city of Mingong now only has three attractions to see, Mingong Stupa, Big Bell and White Temple. It is said that Meng Yun, the king of the Gongbang Dynasty, wanted his queen to climb the top of the tower and worship the Bagan stupa in the distance. He built this huge pagoda on the opposite side of Mandalay and planned three floors. Tall 150 meters high, the king personally supervised the construction. If it is completed, it will become the world's largest stupa, but it will be made by people. After the completion of one third, the king will die. The huge project eventually gave up, leaving only one of the world's largest brick buildings, and two huge stone lions. In the back of the earthquake, even Hinter left only the base. From this huge base, you can imagine the magnificentness of the year.
