Comfortable Mini Central in the Lobby.
Mini Central
Address: 38 Snow Factory Street, Central
For my first visit to Hong Kong, looking for affordable accommodation, compared to the complex entry and exit of Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui, we chose the straightforward Mini Central on Hong Kong Island.
The rooms at Mini Central are really mini, but the lobby is quite spacious. The sofas are comfortable to sit on, allowing one to relax properly.
If you have plans to walk around Central and don't have high requirements for accommodation quality, consider the excellently located Mini Central for a short stay.
However, although Mini Central is very close to the D1 exit of the Central MTR station, carrying luggage up the slope on Wyndham Street and climbing stairs can be quite strenuous. If you don't have enough strength, consider taking the longer route via Snow Factory Street.
Our standard room had only one trash bin in the bathroom, which contained a trash bag for several days, and there was no daily housekeeping service. In the morning, we had to bag the trash and leave it outside the door.
They only provide disposable towels, so you must bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush. The bathroom's drainage design is problematic, as it easily floods after showering, and the room is very humid, so it's not suitable for a long stay.
In addition to the British-style sockets, we also found USB sockets in the room, but it's recommended to bring your own universal adapter.
If you need to store your luggage after checkout, there is a fee of 10 Hong Kong dollars. The location is the biggest advantage, very close to Lan Kwai Fong, and within walking distance to the Peak Tram Terminus, Tai Kwun, the Mid-Levels Escalator, and the murals on Graham Street.
Summary: Excellent location/Short-term stay with no high demands on accommodation quality.
