Then go to the ferry terminal to buy a ferry ticket for ¥200 and Miyajima sightseeing tax of ¥100. Miyajima can be reached by ferry from Hiroshima or from Miyajimaguchi- which is faster. after getting off at Miyajima guchi train station, simply walk toward the ferry pier. On the weekend there is often a large crowd so following them would likely lead you to the ferry terminal. There are two ferry companies running ferries between Miyajimaguchi and Miyajima; the JR ferry and the Miyajima Matsudai Kisen. Both have large passenger ferries and costs ¥360 round trip for the 10 minutes ride. there are four ferries per hour between 8-6pm, and less frequent schedules in the early and evening hours. After arriving to the island, turn right and walk for 10-15 minutes to reach the shrine. Weekends are particularly busy with tourists so getting there early would help. There are also many deer roaming around so beware of not feeding them with food- they will follow you! When visiting Miyajima Island in Japan, you have the option to climb up to Mt. Misen to see the whole island from its highest point. My favourite part of this journey is the breeze you get when you reach the very top. It was by no means a easy walk as paths aren’t properly crafted. On the way up to the peak you’ll see tons of geographical land formations, small temples and even mini statues that some people dress up! It is absolutely adorable! At the peak of the mountain there is a lookout point where you can enjoy the success of your trek up the mountain. Something cool about being here is that you can see the even smaller island where they grow and harvest oysters. I’ve been told that the way oysters are grown and harvested in Hiroshima is unique as they wait for them to weigh down the wooden planks before harvesting them. The Itsukushima Otori Gate is a sight to behold. It’s truly one of the most amazing pieces of history that you’ll ever come across. This gate is HUGE. It is truly massive. And it’s one of those things that you wouldn’t be able to understand until you actually visit it. I really enjoyed just being around it and talking to people about the history and cultural significance of it. This particular gate survived the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. On top of that significant history pointer, this gate is also a key cultural piece that acts as a gate between the human and spirit world. The shrine was founded around 593 AD and has a history of about 1400 years. It mainly enshrines three goddesses (Tagorihime-no-Mikoto, Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto, and Tagitsuhime-no-Mikoto). Built on the tidal flats of the Seto Inland Sea, the large torii gate standing in the sea in front of the shrine is considered one of the "Three Views of Japan" and is the most famous landmark on Itsukushima Island, also a World Heritage Site. #2024mapped Day trip to Miyajima from Hiroshima, it's a small island located relatively close to Hiroshima. You can take a ferry there. The place is very beautiful, it has a lot of deer wandering around without care, sometimes harassing poor tourists, which is a sight to behold. hahaha. Other than that, it has a famous shrine with a submerged Torii gate. which is very cool. also the food wasn't bad.

DAY 47: Today I took Hiroshima Electric Railway Line 2 to Hiroden Miyajimaguchi Station, then took a ferry to Miyajima (itsukushima). I happened to catch up with a local school’s school trip.
