[Shimane Prefecture/Mononobe Shrine] 11 Shrines in Shimane Prefecture that are worth visiting in 2023!
Mononobe Shrine is the Ichinomiya of Iwami Province.
The deity worshipped here is Umashimaji no Mikoto, ancestor of the Mononobe clan.
His father, Nigihayahi no Mikoto, once ruled the land of Yamato.
Then, he came into conflict with Kamu Yamato Iwarebiko no Mikoto when he marched eastward.
As a result of this conflict, Nigihayahi no Mikoto withdrew, and Kamu Yamato Iwarebiko no Mikoto later became the first emperor, Emperor Jimmu. Umashimaji no Mikoto, who followed Nigihayahi no Mikoto's great achievements, pacified various countries and developed the land!
And so, he finally arrived in Iwami Province.
He rode on a crane and descended on Mount Tsurubu.
(→It comes from the sacred crest "Hioizuru" and is the only one of its kind in the country. There is also a koma crane.)
Then, because Mt. Yaoyama resembles Mt. Amanokagu in Yamato, a shrine was built at the foot of Mt. Yaoyama!
There is an ancient tomb in the mountains of Mt. Yaoyama, and the grave of the enshrined deity is located there.
Other highlights include
◎ "Victory Stone"
A large rock on the grounds where the enshrined deity is said to have sat when he descended on a crane.
It is said that touching this stone will grant you good luck in winning.
◎ "Temizuishi"
A temizuishi in the shape of a magatama, made from "Fukinseki" stone that contains gold dust.
Four magatama-shaped stones are embedded in the temizuishi, and each stone is said to bring good luck in terms of wealth or victory, and you can receive good fortune by touching them.
The further you trace the roots of Mononobe Shrine, the deeper it goes.
Next time, I want to stretch my legs to Orita! If possible, I want to go to the top of Mount Tsuruoka! I thought☺️
