This museum has an amazing location! It is situated right next to the Old Port of Marseille, facing the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Especially with its skyline formed together with the Notre-Dame de la Garde and the Old Port, it has become one of the most iconic landscapes of Marseille 🤍 The most special feature is the 138-meter-long pedestrian bridge that directly connects to Fort Saint-Jean. Walking on the bridge, with the blue sea beneath your feet and a distant view of the entire Marseille harbor, the scenery is breathtaking! This modern building contrasts sharply with the historic fort, yet they blend perfectly. Choosing this location to build the museum is very meaningful because it was an important port for ancient Mediterranean trade and cultural exchange, perfectly echoing the museum's theme of showcasing the intersection of European and Mediterranean civilizations.

#museums While the museum makes a solid case on its own. I am so fascinated by its location and appearance. It looks spectacular as you come towards it. And that view of the sea from the museum is stunning too. Such an interesting mix of exhibits. This was totally unplanned and when I was in the vicinity i couldn't help but notice this artistic structure. So I went straight for it. Another special thing about it is that it is set in an old fort Saint Jean. Several of the stone works have been left as they were. If you just want to view the museum building and check out the old fort. You can access through the bridge and you won't have to pay. There's a lot of stairs and a steep ramped climb to get in, but inside the exhibit building are escalators to go up. The exhibits have a lot of variety. We went to all 5 of them namely pop culture, natural, antiquities, modern art, and a little sports section. Exceptional pieces on display and there is an audio introduction that plays lightly in the background. There is a section for kids too. The top floor of this building looks like a modern bird cage and hosts a café with drinks, coffee and light snacks.
