Celebrated Sculptures at Palazzo Altemps
The sculptures of the National Roman Museum or Museo Nazionale Romano, are simply the museum houses collections related to the ancient city of Rome. Only after visiting this museum did I find out that it’s considered to be one of the most important in the world! The sculptures are incredibly detailed and intricate. I have sculptures of everything from mythical Greek gods to the busts of Roman emperors.

Painted Frescoes at the Palazzo
One of the most outstanding and beautiful parts of the Palazzo Altemps is the painted frescoes on the walls ceilings of the Loggia on the first floor. The Frisco’s are meant to depict a secret garden and the ceiling frescoes are painted in such a way that they give a 3D impression, it really is something quite special. The Palazzo Altemps is a really underrated museum but should be on everyone’s Rome bucket list!

Courtyard of the Palazzo Altemps
The courtyard of the Palazzo Altemps, really gives you an idea of the grand scale of the palace that this building was before it became a museum. In the courtyard you will find four Roman statues and a splendid fountain and nymphaeum. The palace dates from the 15th century, it was owned by various different private individuals over the years, even including the Holy See, today is his property of the Italian government. It’s a really underrated museum and rarely very crowded.
