The beautiful Museum Gardens (MuseumGardens) is next to the York Museum, located in the north of York City, by the River Wus, and its gate is on the Museum Street (MuseumStreet). There is a Victorian Gothic chalet in the garden, a part of the famous Roman city wall and the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey. Although it is now in ruins, St Mary's Abbey was a wealthy and powerful monastery in northern England at that time.

York is a beautiful city 🇬🇧

Exploring York was a highlight of my trip! 🌆 The city’s rich history and charming streets made for a perfect day out. I started at the York Minster, an awe-inspiring cathedral with a modest entrance fee of around £12. The stained glass windows and Gothic architecture were breathtaking 🏰. Strolling along the Shambles, I found it to be one of the most picturesque streets in the UK, with its medieval buildings and quirky shops 🛍️.
Next, I visited the National Railway Museum, which was free and packed with fascinating exhibits about the history of trains 🚂. For a touch of local culture, I wandered through the York Museum Gardens, a lovely spot to relax and enjoy some greenery 🌿. Don’t miss the chance to walk along the city walls for stunning views of York and its surroundings.

York Museum Gardens
The York Museum Gardens is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk through and spend some time with history. Though often missed by tourists as it is not the main attraction of York, it is still nice to take some time to explore the gardens. It is located near the train station and the York Cathedral. The gardens are well maintained with so much history that has been kept. There are lots of vibrant flowers, plants and ruins to admire throughout the walk. As it was a Sunday when I visited, there were many families having picnics and little children on their scooters. There is also a large museum on the grounds which unfortunately I didn’t have time to check out but if there’s a next time I hope to visit it.

York Museum Gardens
The beautiful Museum Gardens is located next to the York Museum, in the north of York city, on the banks of the River Ouse, and its entrance is closely connected to the museum. In this peaceful garden stands a Victorian Gothic cabin that exudes a simple and elegant charm. In addition, the park also preserves some of the famous Roman city walls and the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey. Although these ruins are already in disrepair, St. Mary's Abbey was once the richest and most powerful monastery in northern England, and its historical status cannot be ignored.
Walking through it, you feel as if you can travel through time and space, feeling the weight and vicissitudes of history.
